Questions for VP of Scion Jack Hollis.

At the dinner hosted Vice President of Scion Jack Hollis what questions should we ask if given the opportunity?

Bristecom 04-02-2012 11:33 PM

Will LED/HID headlamps and Alcantara/leather seats be options?

+1.

also, how soon does Scion plan to launch special versions of the FR-S? (i.e. Release Series)

Guff 04-02-2012 11:37 PM

What product does he use in his hair?

koyv90 04-02-2012 11:38 PM

Yea i pretty much care for the nicer led/blacked out lights and the leather seats. I don't care for cloth unless its recaros.

Genomaxter 04-02-2012 11:57 PM

Will TRD parts be available from day 1 for the FR-S?

Does toyota expect new competition with the introduction of this new platform?

xrs 04-03-2012 12:37 AM

Oh, I'd ask him how much lower a COG the Scion is without a trunk liner.

tranzformer 04-03-2012 12:49 AM

Why no push start?

_hollywood 04-03-2012 01:48 AM

When can i actually drive my car? :burnrubber:

Could i just have a black one from cali and drive it home after the event?

civicdrivr 04-03-2012 02:25 AM

Why wasn't I invited? :(

WingsofWar 04-03-2012 02:47 AM

Ask how SoA and ToA intend to strengthen their relationship together with this car in the north america, against a target market much different than Japan.

And will TRD parts be available through Scion. The JDM one NOT the USDM parts.

Rabble 04-03-2012 10:43 AM

He won't answer any of the important questions, and NYIAS starts tomorrow so expect a flood of information anyway.

I wouldn't be the asshole who constantly pepper's the guy with pointed questions. Just enjoy your free trip.

Dimman 04-03-2012 11:48 AM

Ask him why his hobbies are church and baseball instead of racing and cars. Then ask him why the hell is he running Scion.

terrypm 04-03-2012 12:37 PM

I would ask him how much influence Toyota had with Joe Gibbs decision to retain Kyle Busch last year during his meltdown and if winning so many races driving a Toyota had any effect.

Agreed! Be thankful you got the trip. I think it would be interesting to ask how Scion and Subaru worked together on the project and why the marketing of the two essentially same cars are positioned in slightly different segments.

Gt0713 04-03-2012 03:27 PM

Push start included as an option?

Ask him if there will be a keyless entry and push start would be included as some sort of technology package? Or something convenience package? :happy0180:

Better yet, ask him why he still has hair.

mattles 04-03-2012 04:06 PM

Ive had a few prepared for a week now:

are there any known 'performance alignment' specs released yet?
can the STM/TCM both be permanently defeated?
can the TPMS be completely defeated/removed without causing a CEL?
Will there be a needle sweep on start up?
Has the issue with the rear valence shuddering/flapping at highway speeds been addressed?
Will the first 86 cars be serialized or have sequential VINs?

Now these may change if they let us sit in the cars and play with them prior to the Q&A section.

I dont have any other questions beyond technical questions, which I realize this may be the wrong person to ask these technical questions but I hope he will forward them to his technical advisors so we can get some good answers. I probably will end up being that asshole that throws handfuls of pointed, complicated, and technical questions at him. If they want my money, Im gonna need answers unfortunately.

He played baseball for Sanford when they won the national championship and then professionally for the Cincinnati Reds organization before he got hurt.

S2kphile 04-03-2012 05:06 PM

Ask him why the price is soooo fing high? for our complainers.

I'd like to see answers to all of the above and why they insist on not selling a Toyota version as a higher spec, keeping the Scion as lower spec. Since you know, this car represents all of Toyota's sports car history which Scion has nothing to do with and Toyota is still lacking a sports car.

r4m3n 04-03-2012 06:25 PM

This is what I wanna know from him: Why'd they price the car so high AND strip out features from the JDM version?

It was on an old Scion 'lifestyle' website that got taken down. I used it on here a few times a couple years ago to show how tragically their sales were doing after a decent initial launch.

Edit: Toyota bio of him:

Kiteless 04-03-2012 07:06 PM

Can you please ask him when we can expect to get a FR-S catalog from the dealer showing various options. Or maybe what specific release day they are shooting for. He probably can't answer them, but worth the shot. Have fun and good luck. :happy0180:

Id be very much interested in this.

Only question I got is if he can introduce me to the driver in these videos.

Probably because of the high value of the yen.

ft86Fan 04-03-2012 08:41 PM

Definitely ask him when will we have news regarding the higher performance version of the FR-S.

kmbkk 04-04-2012 12:26 AM

Since I'm out town, can you ask him if the $1,000 military rebate will be applicable to the FR-S, as it is to all other Scions?

Thanks!

From what I understand, this may be up to Toyota Financial Services / Southeast Toyota Finance, at least the $1,000 grad rebate is. Last time I checked the Grad rebate expired 4/2/2012, but they haven't announced when and if it will be reinstated. Also, they did say it was for any Scion, so I guess it all depends on whether it will be still available in the future.

Really my question would be if an upgraded version of this car will be available and when those options will be released, whether Subaru-like "package" or small upgrades (or rather things that should be there but are not, just so they can bring up the price, like automatic headlights).

Scion has updated their website with an expiration date of July 9, 2012,
of the college grad rebate. The drop down menu box only lists 2012 Scion models, no 2013 FR-S.

If the BRZ rings in at 1500 above the FRS, i'm asking for a complementary BeSpoke in my first 86 car...

Iono, i never got anywhere by being thankful and reserved...everything that worked well in my life happend when I was aggressive about things :P I'm never going to get the opportunity to ask someone that matters the questions that I have, if not now then when?

I agree about not being an asshole about it, but there are nice ways to ask tough questions too :) ;)
