I don't really understand this list, but I guess it's good the GT86 is on it. I think.

Man, there are some great cars missing from the list and some questionable cars added.. Can't say I agree with it. But it sounds like users voted.

Really you think top gear thinks the ford focus is the 7th best car ever made in the last 20 years?

Me, no. But they say it is a countdown to the best car and over 100K viewers voted. So there may just be a crapload of Focus owners out there who voted and their car made the top of the list.

I would not put much stock in this "countdown"...

It's the results of an online poll, so I wouldn't blame Top Gear for making the choices, but the people voting. It does look like he says they are in order, since people voted, so the list is not disorganized. Either way, like someone else said, at the least the 86 made it.

It appears to be ordered based on the top 50 poll results, ascending from least votes to most. Kind of a bad way of doing this, the nice sports cars more obscure than say the Bugatti Veyron split the vote and ended up placing behind the random hatchbacks a lot of Top Gear viewers probably had and thought were the best cars ever.

are we still trying to find validation and approval for our choice in picking this car?

I thought we got that validation when we first drove it and took it for a corner.

I guess its cool that we made another list.

Of course, have you ever pushed one to its pure grip? Great cars, great chassis.

It was a mass produce car that was good handling, easy to work on and easy to modify. *See RWD V8 conversion*

Its more big in Europe then USA mostly because hatchback is a euro thing.
