Hello 86 friends
my name is Marshall and I am in the U.S. Army and its looks as though I'll be moving to Germany in a few months and I would really like to take my 86 over there. I currently have only coilovers and 18" wheels on the car as well as tinted windows, but I have a Greddy turbo kit and clutch oil cooler fuel mods and aluminum radiator sitting in the box as I'm not sure as to what German vehicle laws are against modifications. Any insight you guys can provide me with would be a lot of help. Thank you in advance.

If you want to modify your car, you must use TÜV approved parts ( [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technischer_%C3%9Cberwachungsverein"]Technischer Ãœberwachungsverein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] ).
Any part bought in the US most certainly doesn't comply, even if the same identical part is also sold with the certification, you need the paper that says "TÜV approved" to be valid, there is no arguing.

Our German fellow members will confirm, but forget your tubro kit if you want your car to be registered in Germany. Now, if you're gonna use US Army license plates (I've seen some at the Nürburgring before), it might be a different story.

I spent 8 years in Germany upto Febuary 2012 and I had a highly modified 2004 supercharged Mustang. American soldiers and civilians have their vehicle inspected on base and do not have to be inspected by the TUV but the Germany laws are inforced by the on base inspectors that are Germans. The inspection is easy but remember no tint is allowed on the front windows and loud exhuasts are a no go! The rest of the inspection is standard stuff to see if your tires are ok and you do not have any leaks under the car.

I guess that'll be coming off. So if go the Army route I don't have to pass emissions?
