Perrin front pipe turning purple

I am concerned that the catted portion will fail prematurely due to the heat. Anyone else is having the same problem.

It won't and no, you are the only one with this concern.

i turned my catless font pipe purple in one drive. this is normal for stainless steal to do under heat.

Foobar 09-10-2013 09:42 AM

This is normal behavior. I've seen it on every stainless exhaust I've ever worked on.

It's pretty!

I had HFC on my audi and it turned purple/pink. I looked at it every time I opened the hood.

Muaddib, you're fine, that is normal behavior for front pipes. The cats are designed to take a lot of heat. We run the same cats on turbo Subarus that are running much more power then the BRZ, and they work great!
