Need to rant to my fellow 86ers.

Where I live they have contracted people to do the landscaping, so I'm no longer responsible for my own lawn. Anyway, my mom keeps too much shit in the garage, and I can't keep the car inside, so I leave it parked by the sidewalk. Anyway I wake up to it one day with a whole bunch of dirt and grass stuck on the side of it.

Yesterday I spent a good 3 hours detailing the car just because some of that shit stuck to the side of it so well that it took a good two washes, and a bunch of time and effort to get all the stuck on sap after it. I was happy to see it nice and clean after having a busy couple of days that I couldn't take care of it.

Fast forward to today, I had to pick up my mother from an appointment, and lately pulled into a parking lot nearby (the one here is just too steep and the car will scrape). Anyway, there's someone with a leaf blower, and I was upset, because I knew more debris made its way back onto the car. He comes back and literally blows it all around and on the side of my car, I get out of the car and ask him if that's really necessary, and he said "He was trying to clean the car", I said "seriously?" and he just started walking away. I'm not going to play an e-thug and that I was going to beat him up or shank him, I'm just frustrated.

I know this is a complete 1st world problems rant, it's just grating on my nerves and thought venting might help. Needless to say it's filthy again and I'm probably going to have to devote some more time to cleaning.

When I lived with my mom, I wish I could have an FR-S to begin with.

Sell your car, buy a beater, and get your own place inside a bubble.

Dezoris 09-09-2013 04:02 PM

If you care about your cars looks it has to be in a garage. Sucks. Been there.

thill 09-09-2013 04:04 PM

Clean-out the garage, park the car in there.

While I was reading your story, I kept thinking that you were going to say the gardener mowed the lawn and a rock shot at your car chipping it. I guess I would say, just be happy its not permanent damage.

I understand your frustration.. You dont have many options other than to park elsewhere or clean out the garage..
I doubt you will be able to ask them nicely to be careful..
My nephew lives in an apt complex. He parks on an end spot to
reduce door dings. The landscapers knocked off his mirror, at least it appears that way, but they denied it even though it was the side facing the just mowed, edged and trimmed lawn.
I spent a good part of labor day waxing and detailing my car..
two days later its covered with these clear dots.. someone sprayed something nearby, or I drove though it..
Just the nature of the beast.. There is much to be said about beater cars..
Venting can help too :party0030:

Obviously I don't have my priorities straight, sacrifices I have to live with. I'm waiting to join the Air Force, maybe it's time I find another recruiter.

I wish I could illustrate how impossible that would be.

No illustration need....A camera phone pic will go nicely here :)

I don't understand all the asshole responses this guy got. Put yourself in a similar situation and you'd be pissed too. Those blowers throw sand and other debris that could damage the car. I assure that most of you would be pissed.

Sorry that the idiot did that. I would try and park somewhere different. And good luck on the Air Force. It's nice to know that some people are pricks on here and only try to make themselves feel better that they live by themselves and own their own car.

My main problem with my last car was always with the trucks on the freeways kicking up rocks, and sand (I live in Vegas).
When I got mine, I had them put the Clear bra on the bumper, fenders, and the first 1/4 of the hood.
IMO, it's work the like $500 it costs just to save the front from road rocks

Edit:
In fact, I would like to find a windshield protector as well.
The sand blowing out here can basically sand blast the windshield pretty quickly.

obviously you can't do much about keeping your car clean 24/7, but some of these lawn service people don't have common sense. i've seen them blatantly blowing crap towards/into the street as cars pass by, as if they didn't even see the car in the first place. most of the operators ARE aware and hold it down until the cars pass. i get that they are just doing their job and time is money, but theres no reason they can't be professionals about it. atleast that's what bothers me about stuff like this
i have to give you credit for keeping your cool when the guy said he was "cleaning" your car, people like that are clearly pissed off at themselves and take it out on others to feel better

Agree. I've had situations where guys on riding lawnmowers or using blowers have pelted my car as I've driven by. :mad0260: We've all been there, I'm sure.

OP, hope you can move out soon. I saved for a while and finally was able to afford a house with a two-car garage, and it's a nice feeling of security putting your car into a safe garaged spot.
