Price on FI
 

Do you guys think FI kits will drop in price over the years? This is just my opinion but $5000-$6000 kits seem way over priced for the frs/brz.

Eventually yes, soon no.

most turbo kits range from 4k to 6k.

i dont think it will go lower.

look at a full turbo kit / supercharger kit for any other manufacturer that is not made using garbage parts. The price of the kits are in line with those.

I think for most cars including this, 5k is the sweet spot excluding supporting mods.
The way I look at it is, if we had an OEM STI or TRD with FI it would be pushing 34k.

For the modest gains you achieve, is $5K worth it?

I wouldn't expect the kits to drop anytime soon...

Get what you pay for ive seen horrible things with kits that are 2 to 3k from ebay etc

I don't think a good kit will ever drop below the $3,000 range. But eh! You get what you pay for

Kits like the FA20CLUB and the AVO are targeted to those that don't want to spend so much.

Agree with everyone else, when going turbo you really want the good parts and they come at a price.

I think $3k is reasonable for the following parts:

- Turbocharger
- Manifold
- Intercooler
- Pipework
- Other random fixings/lines

You'd save maybe $500 if you did it yourself (with new parts), but the time and effort involved in a one-off would exceed that and the saving would be lost (unless you value your time at zero, which of course some people do). Anyone charging $4k+ for the above is making a little too much in my opinion.

Tuning/labour/other_things_like_injectors would be additional costs, sky's the limit.

Garrett GT or GTX turbos aren't cheap. Neither are the Tial Q BOVs and Tial/Precision wastegates these kits are using. Throw in some injectors, a fuel pump, an intercooler core, silicone couplers, T bolt clamps, oil feed line, oil return line, coolant lines, and the piping and you have a lot of cost. I don't know how much Full Blown and FA20club are making off each kit with dealer costs, but I definitely feel their kits are well worth the $4500 they start at for Garrett GT28 turbos.

you can buy a turbo off of ebay for $169 shipped. the day will come when some jackass is selling $500-$1000 'bolt on' turbo kits on ebay comprised of knock-off parts. it's inevitable.

you won't want to buy one, though because they'll be shit, like all the others. i'm all for value, but when you're going FI you use quality parts or ultimately suffer. exhausts are a great place to save money on cheaper parts (a pipe is a pipe), but not things like turbo, wastegate, etc.

you are so funny, why would you wanna pay less for parts that could possible destroy your 25+ K car ? Quality comes with those numbers.
