Another project teaser. Exhaust hole covers for single exit exhaust!

So, I've been working on my next prototypes for parts to add to the diffuser. Next up is for all of us out there running a single exit exhaust on our Frs/brz. (I recently sold my Perrin and picked up a ft86speedfactory v1, weight redux!)

Here are a few pics, they are rough prototype parts, I'm dropping them off today to get a quote for water/laser cut and powder coat.

Both left and right side in two versions: type 1 is the race car style screw or rivet to the bumper; type 2 is the "stealth mount" that attaches using tabs and screws on the inside of the bumper.

Ignore the rivets in the "stealth mount" one, they are there for easy prototyping, the tabs will be fixed to the plate using a method invisible from the outside.

Enjoy!

Very nice. It's something so simple, but if done well it could easily open up the option for a single-exist exhaust to many who would not have previously considered it.

It'd be nice if someone came out with a full rear diffuser cover (carbon fiber or otherwise) that deleted the left-side exhaust hole.

I agree, but not all single exit exhausts go to the same side. Berk for example goes left and the v1 goes right. This, to me is a more sensible and cost effective method. And this gives the freedom to not have to replace or hack up your stock bumper if you don't want to.

Looks like a great idea, i am looking at the Tomei type-80 which exists on the left side. Depending if you can you can get the shape smooth i know this is just the test fitment and if you put this into production they will look better. I do like the stealth look, let us know if you will proceed with this as i will need one =)

Just trying to understand how the leg in the fourth photo down fits into the whole equation? :confused0068: :bellyroll:

Supposed to show the tiny little hole in the bumper from mounting, but apparently the focus is on my hairy leg. Haha

Very nice only problem is it would bother me because it won't match with the rest of the diffuser! :(

I'm picky

It matches the diffuser I build just fine. It doesn't match the bumper exactly but you can get it close with plastidip if you wanted.

Any update on this, just pre-ordered the Tomei type 80, would love to have this for the install.

Tomei Japan makes very nice exhaust systems. Looking forward to the custom exhaust hole covers in final form =) Very creative XD
