Filmed in Toronto (except for a bit of stock footage probably supplied by Scion, like the opening shot above).

I came to the same conclusions as these guys did after 2 15-minute test drives - but this is not a long-term test report, the title is a bit misleading.

The idiot doesn't know the car was originally designed to have bigger tail pipes, which actually does outside of US.

The reason we get those crappy looking tailpipes here is because safety regulations.

Every time I get more amazed how fucking little "car reviewers" know about the cars they are pretending to review.

same generic car review...

1) not enough power
2) interior is blah

Have your opinions on the car changed much since the first test drive? I know mine haven't lol

He is reviewing the product as it is sold in his market. If he starts talking about the Toyota 86 and features that only the JDM version has, it will confuse people who don't know much about the car and make this quick review too content-heavy.

I find the seats very comfortable for all-day trips. As with all auto writers he has been tainted by access to extremely powerful engines. Once get get a snort of 650 Shelby, everything else is a letdown. Did Toyota ever try to market this car as having a powerful engine? No! The engine in this car satisfies one critical need, to get the car up to speed to enjoy the corners and handling. That's it. Anyone seeking extremely rapid acceleration from the GT86/FR-Z is a damn fool for buying the car, with only himself to blame. And, in my opinion, doesn't really know how to enjoy driving.

True, but other manufacturers have found ways to make their pipes look a lot better than Subaru did despite the regs. And Subie/Toyota could have done a different rear bumper mold for NA cars.

Mine have. Not the driving experience itself but that reliability issues with the transmission and axles. And RATTLES. I FUCKING HATE RATTLES.

Well I don't own the car so I can't answer that :D I will say that one complaint I had has been addressed thanks to Youtube - watched a vid with the sound tube plugged and the car sounded SO much better, no longer yowling like an over-strained tractor. That quick fix is a big plus in the buy column for me.

Given your build-out, your problems are probably inevitable. The FR-S is built to a low price point, it's no Porsche - not much headroom for mods before problems show up. Has me hesitating over power boosting without a warrantied solution.

The only things I have that have anything to do with performance is exhaust, air filter, and springs. Cars that are stock are having the exact same issues and I don't think my exhaust gave that much power to affect my transmission or axle. The FR-S was also built with aftermarket in mind.

I agree with you on this. But this is easily remedied. I bought some cheaper tips at Pepboys and it made a nice difference vs stock:

Surprised about the comment with the seats and long range driving.

I'm tall and fat and the 86 seats are great, I've driven on long trips all day and not gotten sore at all, really happy with how they managed to balance cornering support and comfort... must be something specific to his skinnyness/height.
