Got a nail! Fixable?

Hey I got a nail in the tire close to the sidewall. Do you think it's patchable? Attachment 50062 let me know thanks.

Drftfan 09-02-2013 08:10 PM

Yep. Any tire store should have that done quick

CodyFRS 09-02-2013 08:25 PM

I've had 2 nails pulled and plugged. The one was bigger than that, you'll be fine.

jbravo373 09-02-2013 08:28 PM

Cool thanks guys. Sucks that I have to wait till tomorrow to get it fixed.

Kelbyat07 09-02-2013 09:00 PM

Yeah my dealer did it for me easily. Good luck!

SliverBrz 09-02-2013 09:45 PM

yup fixable, not on the shoulder so you are good

TNPerformance 09-02-2013 11:38 PM

Definitely fixable! Just make sure whoever does it dismounts the tire and does a patch-plug from the inside and doesn't try to just pop a plug in from the outside!

Young_makaveli 09-02-2013 11:41 PM

Yeah thats an easy fix

Luckily it wasn't on the sidewall or you would have needed a new tire

King Tut 09-03-2013 03:24 PM

I can tell you that when I worked at Walmart, we would NOT plug/patch that tire. That is too close to the sidewall. Our rule was that if the patch did not fit between the nail and the sidewall of the tire, then it was too close.

So if they say they can't fix it, you just burn off the tires in the parking lot and get new ones thrown on.

I would love to do that! But being in college means no money! Especially with the payment due this week :(

I'd get it replaced - too close to sidewall. If you have tire road hazard warranty, then perhaps push to have the tire replaced.

Count yourself lucky. I was four miles from the dealership last night when my trade-in picked up a razor blade. Cut a hole the size of my thumbnail through the middle of the tire.
Then to add insult to injury, because I was trading in the car, I didn't have my tools with me so I didn't have the right socket for the aftermarket rims/lugs that were on the car.
I got lucky that there was a tire shop just a few doors down. I gave one of the techs a twenty to swap the tires out and drove in on the (until that afternoon) virginal six year old spare.

Not lucky enough :( the tire wasn't patchable as it was to close the the side wall like I thought. Now looking to buy a used oem replacement for the time being as I won't have money to replace the whole set. Any have a used one for sale up in nor cal? By stockton?
