Focal K2 Power 165 KRX3 Question

Hey,

I'm sortof an audio noob, but I want a quality audio system in my FRS, I'm looking at the Focal K2 Power 165 KRX3's but crutchfield is aaying it doesn't fit in the FR-S, what extent of modification would be required?

Thanks

That is an awesome focal model. If you go to audio shop they can do anything you want for this car. I have visited local shop and talk about all my equipment setup and the plan that I'm going to build for my setup soon and those tech just love to work on this car like crazy.

Problem is I don't really have any good dedicated audio shops anywhere near my area, closest wpuld probably be about a 6 hour drive.

Dont really need 3 way, I have the kr2. The dash will need some serious reinforcements if you go 3 way, those mids can move some serious air

Hmm, I'm not really in the mood for making reinforcements lol, what are you using for mids? Or do you just use the door speakers and tweeters?

Door and tweeters, If your system is tuned properly you wont really need mids.
Unless you listen to hardcore rock, Sub will over power mids

Two mids in the dash is what will cause the most problems. The ones you replace are tiny and once removed there isn't much room for anything.

Okay, and what sort of modifications did you need to mount the tweeters/door speakers?

Is there a guide to audio tuning because there is no one in the area that does audio work, I plan on running a JL 10w6v3 along with the setup.

Also do you have the KR2 or KRX2?

Funny thing is I had the cheaper focals and the tweeters popped right where the stock tweeter was. Also I used mdf to make a speaker mount so I could fit the smaller size speakers I was running.

My crappy but very cost effective speaker mount.

I bought speaker mounts from a guy that makes subaru things, ill send you the link for them. Very good quality , for doors and tweets.
KRX2 is what im running.. Also i have the same sub, word of advice? Tie the damn thing down very well lol. Mine was upside down for a week or so before I popped the trunk , shredded my cone on the woofer. I am getting a custom enclosure.

Okay so after doing some research,

I think I'm going to run the following;

Focal K2 Power 165 KRX2
JL Audio 10w6v3
Focal FPP 4100

Now, one question is, would I need to use the crossovers that come with the KRX2's or just use the crossovers built in on the amp?

I bought the integrity concepts 10" passenger side enclosure for the 10w6v3, hopefully it stays in place :)
