If, for some reason, he cannot make it then I will try to borrow the GoPro and I will act as the camera car.

Everyone should make sure to bring their cameras. There are some good photo ops with at least one covered bridge, rustic areas, open vistas etc. The non-twins can sit out some the group photos so everyone gets some "pure" pictures to remember the event.

Good to know, never hurts to have someone experienced in the roads around.

There are two pull-offs I have in mind, both with covered bridges, both are on or slightly off 26. You'll notice in the map that we actually go off 26 for a short period (towards Marietta), that's where the second bridge is.

If I end up coming, I've a GoPro and can film.

Keep us updated. We can add him to the list if he decides to come along.

Monday Bump!

Has this been linked to the wv, ky, and western pa groups? A few potential others

I had the day off and did a solo run from Zanesville to the river on the nickel. I've been a bunch of times in years past but this was my first run this year. You guys are going to have a blast! Don't over drive it though - the usual piles of gravel mid turn and random farm animals (seriously!) are well represented.

Edit: Unfortunately I can't make the meet. Enjoy without me!

I'm semi-hesitant to, given the number we already have. The areas that we may pull off for some of the photo ops are going to jammed if we have more than 20 cars. There is the safety factor to consider, but I think we all have a healthy enough appreciation for our cars that its not that big of a deal. Keep in mind that if it gets too big, it'll be just like the Tail of the Dragon--one giant bear den (aka speed trap with cops everywhere).

I'll post links to this thread in the WV, KY and WPA groups, and hope for the best.

Ooo need for speed real-life!! Add a few hookers, guns, and felonies to the mix and we upgrade to gta

Updated. Removed "tentative" from my name. dothetango1990 and I will be heading down tomorrow to pre-run part of the loop. We will do RT800 and RT26 but I want to do Dalzell Rd so we will not be heading over to RT555. I know there was a short stretch of rough pavement on the southern end of RT26 when we were down there in August. I will report back on road condition and/or construction and the like.

Awesome, thanks for the scouting ahead! Maybe we'll have some fresh asphalt to enjoy!

On Saturday, my son and I did our pre-run of the RT26 portion of the October 19th route. We picked up RT 800 off of I 70 at Barnesville. This was the biggest snaffu of our whole afternoon as this weekend was the last days of their annual Pumpkin Festival which meant we spent 20-30 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic just trying to get through town. Who knew that so many people were interested in pumpkins? There were license plates from PA, WV, OH, NY and IN. On a positive note we did get to see some of the champion pumpkins that were on display in the middle of the street downtown. Seriously, you could live (well at least camp out) in a couple of them. They were huge.

After we cleared Barnesville, we headed down RT 800 to Woodsfield to pick up RT 26. 800 is good with some nice sweepers and a couple tight areas. The only obstructions were a couple Amish buggies. Once we got to RT 26 it was smooth sailing. The weather was beautiful, traffic was light and a few of the trees are starting to show some gold. There are sections of the road that have been patched but they are smooth. There were two areas with road "work ahead signs". Both of these were south of the RT 260 junction. One area was a stretch about two miles long that was freshly resurfaced was very smooth. There were no center or sidelines painted on the new asphalt yet. The other work zone is a bridge that is down to one lane. There is a automated traffic light on site that you have to wait on to get across.

Other than those two areas the road was in great shape and you could maintain the 55MPH speed limit everywhere except the tight stuff. We got behind one pick-up pulling a horse trailer that cheated us out of taking a section of twisties at speed. We pulled over to let her get a lead but once we got going we caught her again in a couple minutes. Fortunately, she turned off shortly thereafter.

The run from Woodsfield to Marietta took about an hour and a quarter including a twenty minute stop at one of the covered bridges where we took a few photos.

If the weather on the 19th is as nice as it was Saturday we will have a great time! We cannot wait to go back.
