Has anyone located the drain tube yet? Please post a pic.

njccmd2002 08-30-2013 03:06 PM

ok, i posted this issue a while, and cant find the post.

same issue with the camry. the camry was plaged with this stuff. I have that smell, too, its from mold accumulating in the condenser.

Well I am work right now (saving up for that future FR-S  ) But I will do my best to search the service manual for anything pertaining to the drain tube if I can, it shouldn't be hard to find with the a/c on maybe someone else on here can help locate it with there a/c on and take a picture of the location referencing other locations, it has to be where there is a hold in the under body aero panels.

I'm gonna go with it being mold somewhere in the system.

My Pontiac G8 GT had a serious mold problem and it smelled like that whenever I turned the AC on. It always had a musky odor about it, but it would get much worse with the AC on.

I've tried blasting full fan, NO recirc, AC on for 30 minutes, and off for 20 minutes.

Smells the same as when i got into the car. It used to go away after i ran ac for a bit. But now there is just no hope. Thanks anyway though.

Well after some research I found that the drain tube is on the passenger side in front of the footwell. You will need a lift or remove the underpanels to see the little rubber tube.

This post highlights the a past drain issue:http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ditioner+drain

According to the post the drain tube drains off into another drainage point for rain water, which during heavy rain driving can sometimes back up into the condenser drain tube itself and even kink the tube up.

If that and the other tricks I tried to recommend don't work its time for some professional toyota techs to help you out. sorry.

@Minhtyfresh

Did you do a sound tube delete? If so did you cap the hole coming through the firewall?

When looking for the drain tube I noticed how close the hole is to the blower inlet. I plugged the hole temporarily. First time getting back into the car seems muchh better. I need to have more stop and go tests.

But if this is the issue im curious if the smell is the drainage line from outside the car and the fumes coming in or perhaps oil dripping issues that other people have had and its coming in the same hole.

I've found the actual drain tube outlet underneath the car. It is directly next to the cat converter to the right, underneath an underbody cover. I just ran my AC on cold and followed the dripping water. I blew pressurized air into it to unclog it (or try to). I followed up with a quick lysol spray into the cabin air inlet screen (by the wipers) and blasted the fan on max for 20 minutes.

No success... ): I guess I will have to live with this for a couple weeks until i can make time for the dealership!

I plugged the sound tube opening under the glove box about half a year ago using the plastic cap from the hidden power outlet above the glove box. This smell likely has nothing to do with the sound tube opening.

You can try blowing out the drain tube though. It didn't work for me... but it was easy to find and probably worth a shot for you. (see my response above to FRSBRZGT86FAN
