Is it possible to order the recaro seats from the dealership and have them shipped to the states? or are they made in limited quantities and available only in japan.

I ALSO KNOW ABOUT THIS CROME PART SEBDCA3600 that is availible here in Europe !
But i think it is made of Flexible Rubber Material
so you CANNOT Paint it !!!!!

please again..... are you REALLY SURE you can paint that stuff ?

have you allready done it ???????

other than primer for PU and so other, there is clear coat with additives for flexibility. A little percentage must be add. Ask at your bodywork, they do. Flex additive is for bumpers i.g.

here is the first step...now tmw I'll finish with clear coat flex.

You need :

- spray primer for PU & Fiberglass

- levelling with soft ultrafine 3M for grip

- Red Cherry Blossom as I reported

- levelling with soft ultrafine 3M to opacize and proper paint grip

Then clear coat with additive (matte 10%).

Install....

Apologies in advance if this has been answered, but is there a part number and link to purchase the pink tS bumper garnish yet? I'm having trouble sourcing it.

To clarify, I'm looking for the pink piece that lines the "smile" portion of the front bumper opening.

Thanks

Trap63 02-21-2016 02:52 PM

Yes. There is a part no. but Subaru Japan doesn't sell outside Japan to a non tS owner......like some other parts.

Mine from Germany and sliders from Nikitopo and Japanparts. Now solving about sidebag wiring harness thus Recaros are coming with VW connector and you need to modify car side connectors with male VW.
You need to recover passenger seat sensor and wire it otherwise airbags warning signal is still on.
If you wish to avoid sidebags, you need to short the plug (car side) with 3.3 Ohm resistor - 1 watt (orange, orange, gold, gold).

@Trap63 do you lose heated seat functionality, or do those come with seat heaters as well?

thinking if I do something like this that that function, those buttons, and the alcantara seats become useless :(

great interior btw!

There are some grade about Recaro Sportster CS, with heated seat too and Recaro include wiring and connector and extra side push button, but you can wire it directly to BRZ heating connector.
Here in Italy BRZ is without seat heating (like Saudi Market). This function is optional only for GT86 if you order.
Heating seats aren't a top requested optional here...

krayzie 02-21-2016 04:54 PM

Interesting that VW still uses connectors for the seat airbags. A few years ago there was a mass tsb/recall for a lot of their cars to eliminate the connectors due to the airbag warning keep coming on (very common for their cars for a very long time), and to have the wiring re-done with a permanent connection.

They are new as locking system , twice like toyota but rectangular. It's very difficult to find here toyota one while VW sells easy wiring repair kit for 9$ each.

There's a seat heater option for the sportster cs but no side air bag option currently for the ones available here. Side airbags are still only offered in Europe and Asia

As said no sales outside Japan. ..only way is standard Sportster CS and rebuild like Japanese tS ones. They are sold only in sidebag grade and therefore cannot be exported outside Japan.
Same story about genuine subframe: only valid for Japan. No TUV and US transportation certified......Sold only from Japanese branch of Recaro.

I can confirm that the JDM STi Recaros do not come with seat heater pads. They do come complete with seat belt sensors, airbags and rails. If I could get my hands on a set I do not see why you guys can't.
It would probably be an easy task for an auto trimmer to swap the heater pads out of the stock seats and install into the sportsters.

These are the guys I used... surely there must be a similair company in the U.S.?

Yes, Yuki was unable to ship the 2013 tS Recaro's as well. The company I used specialise in importing half cuts and other parts into Australia from Japan and run a container service.

ricerocket93 02-22-2016 07:44 AM

For the airbag part, the Nissan Juke Nismo RS in North America with the Recaro seats might be an option.

mister.bond 02-22-2016 07:58 AM

So after ALL
What the Hell !!!!
it MUST BE POSSIBLE TO find a Real "Ts Owner" who can order some parts for us !!!!!

I checked the price in those a while back. Really pricey. I think they were almost $6800 before taxes for the pair.

Good luck. When a tS owner orders a part that is restricted for sale to the general public, they actually send a representative to verify there is a legitimate reason for that person buying it. So it's not as simple as an owner walking in and buying parts

That really sucks. You'd think Subaru Global wouldn't have an issue selling all the tS parts considering they could probably price them with a gigantic markup and people will pay it, just because its tS.

I can't complain about their strategy. If anything, SoJ and STi are jumping through hoops to reward their enthusiast drivers by keeping things actually exclusive to their owners, so I applaud them for doing it.

I consider us very lucky that they've allowed as many parts as they've had for general purchase. Keep that in mind, as a former owner of a 2015 WRX, I would have been driven nuts by the fact only a very small fraction of the S207 parts are available for purchase.

Really the only parts that aren't for sale is anything that is actually "tS" badged. Even the seats are for sale; the only reason we can't get them in the US (or have to work very hard to get them) is because the normal distribution channels won't take the liability for shipping them due to it being classified as a dangerous good. It has nothing to do with Subaru.

Not surprising. With German cars we used to goto great lengths to buy European spec parts and have them ship over from Germany, cuz the local dealers here have no access to order them (even though the part will show up on the computer at the counter). They were grey imports where they deliberately erase the part number on the actual part prior to shipping.

It must be legality issue, as Trap mentioned like no safety certification for the parts on the car model at our side of the pond.

The tS badge might show up for sale probably 10 years from now on the web (e.g. check Rakuten I see a bunch of old Subaru and STI badging / decals for sale).

mister.bond 02-23-2016 12:36 PM

and they DO NOT sell :

-Black Ts Fender Garnish
- Pink Grill Pin Stripe
- Pink Rear Pin Stripe
- Red Leather Key Cover

Because of what ?????
because they are insane .....for NO Reason !
i understand why they do not sell the f---- Ts badge , ok.........because its for the REAL Ts Modell.......
but the other Parts ???? why not sell them ???
either you sell ALL the STI Ts Parts or nothing !
So, it is more than insane !!!!!!
it make NO sense that they kick a few simple parts out of order List !

Hi Thomas..you need to agree with me that Japan defends very very well proper brand as anyone does. If, we, in Italy would have the same will to defend our brand in the same way, maybe you'll eat real Parmiggiano not fake Carolina milk cheese.....or fake Munchner WeissBier as some people use to drink.
In Italy some parts of Abarth 500 Biposto ($65.000,00) are impossible to buy in the same way but Tributo Ferrari's (parts)..... a lot of them instead.
It's difficult to understand as European (we defend nothing - Ferrari and Lambo excluded..., see TTP incoming agree) or American people.

Thanks for getting some clarification on the black tS fender garnishes. I wish I had never seen because the silver ones just aren't the same. I have gone ahead and ordered the Hyper.Blue black side fins to replace the chrome ones that were on the car when I bought it. It will have to do and will essentially achieve the same look. This will tide me over until Subaru/STI decides to sell them (a guy can dream right?) or I'll just get the silver ones down the road. I need to focus on getting that STI sport muffler anyways...

Yea there used to be a German site called TMTuning which was exactly like JapanParts, too bad they closed down since they didn't price gouge like ECS Tuning and OEMPlus.

The must haves for me would be the Euro driver side mirror, light switch and rear fog light. Unless you need to get a set of OEM Recaro Sportster CS for the Golf too! :bellyroll:

Perfect. Thank you! I have seen people jack up the car and others not. Just wanted to be sure I install it properly. Time to pick up a torque wrench.

DaJo 02-25-2016 03:55 AM

Sooo... I did something today... Ordering these knowing that they would not fit properly I decided to do so anyways.

Arrived in the mail today and went ahead to install them right away. They do fit very poorly and ended up fighting and scratching up a little bit of the "fins" to get it adjusted properly (and even so, still obviously misaligned).

They look great but I do not recommend it to anybody else, they're $400 CAD (with our crappy dollar at the moment, it's REALLY not worth it lol) and don't fit perfectly with our North American spec foglight bezel covers...

Oh, they're the LED dayliner cover extensions... Lol, no actual pics because... I couldn't get a good shot in the stuffy and cramped garage.

http://i68.tinypic.com/2yvnr88.jpg

... And of course, like with any other mods I always, ALWAYS walk away with some sort of battle scar... XD

I found you have to play with the fitment a little. It will never be perfect of course but on mine we got t aligned so that it's really only off on the first "fin".

The fins just don't seem to cooperate with one another... It's so frustrating haha. It also seems like the bottom corner hovers teeny bit (1 mm) over the foglamp cover so in the future trying to take the cover off might be a little harder.
