Yeah, I've been surprised that they haven't even been released for the Legacy tS, so I'm assuming that I'll never get a badge. :(

But that fender trim/vent overlay will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

I think a team of us is going to have to infiltrate STI. Who's down for a heist?! :threadjacked:

I'm sure the fender trim will be released. It's ez money for sti. That and the bbk I expect to be released (they're essentially the same as wrx sti brakes, so won't cost them as much to produce in mass numbers). Everything else I doubt well ever be released. The seats and wing for sure wont be.

chanomatik 08-27-2013 08:49 PM

I meant heist for tS badges. I'm hopeful for the fender trim, because, as you said, easy money.

That spoiler I can take or leave. I'm not the hugest fan of GT wings from all angles, only certain angles.

BBK, I don't see that one being much of a problem since Toyota already has their TRD BBK.

There are other suspension bits I noticed in pics that haven't been made available yet. Would be interesting to see those.

Pics:

We've already had the lateral link assy and trailing links available to us, but what about the third STI part? Sorry, I'm not super savvy with suspension...
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...2&d=1376922702

Also we haven't seen STI struts yet...
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...4&d=1376922702http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...0&d=1376922669

I want the STI steering wheel center.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...0&d=1376922702

And, as evidence of my newb ignorance, I thought that these were replacements for the struts in the engine from the firewall to the fenders:
http://www.japanparts.com/images/Ima...ase=1&no=44921

I was wrong...

Probably because the rough translation says that it's best to pair with the STI flexible strut tower bar. It does look a bit like it'd go on the firewall but when I really read the translation better and saw several pics of Japanese owners with them installed I got the true purpose.

Trap63 08-28-2013 03:13 AM

about STI steering wheel emblem....a canadian friend of "us" is working on.....after my yday request. Will be available soon.....

switchlanez 08-28-2013 03:16 AM

@Trap63, did Japanparts get back to you on the availability of the other tS parts? I almost know what the answer will be but I've sub'd to this thread anyway just to see the confirmation.

Tributo Ferrari badge series for 500 Abarth @start up had with a consumer price of 400 Euro only for rear trunk, side 180 euro each,....Ebay was totally full of replica for a price of 1/4 of original.....one year later Abarth decide to sell as aftermarket spare parts...to everyone. Now you can buy with a VIN number by dealer....Business is Business everywhere...Italy or USA is the same....

I've never seen the tS badge, replica or not, sold anywhere. Not even on ebay.

Ha,ha!! Just spotted this and had a giggle - http://www.japanparts.com/images/Ima...ase=1&no=38850

I see it only as a matter of time though if you REALLY want it. There are so many Ts models now that it has to be available soon.

This is the same kinda talk that was goin around about the S203, S204, S401, R205 etc.. All of these badges are now available.

Yeah I came across that last week! "Impossible to order"! haha

Why you say "Ts" when you know it's "tS"?

Beyer Subaru 08-28-2013 12:57 PM

Typo.

chanomatik 08-28-2013 12:58 PM

The359 08-28-2013 02:00 PM

Yeah, even the feel of it since it's painted is better.

Exvidious 08-28-2013 06:23 PM

I do like alot of the interior parts, especially those Recaro's and gauge cluster. Just looks sporty yet clean. Wouldn't you only be able to get the cluster in Km/H?

Never say never. Where there's a sufficient demand and a person/company wanting to make $$ then I'm sure some knock-off company will make the tS badges. Since when did most Chinese (or similar to be fair) care about trademark infringement?

DaJo 08-29-2013 03:05 AM

What do you guys think? Painted to match or leave it black? I quickly photoshopped the painted version to get an idea of how it would look...

tS cars have been around for years and no one has ever made a knock off of the badges. :iono:

Paint-matched makes me think Toyota Corolla Type S. Subaru BRZ t(ype) S(ti)?

Maybe not a sufficient demand or a company that thinks it might be worthwhile :iono: but it's definitely not out of the question, nor impossible to fake.

Compared to the standard STI emblem the tS badge doesn't seem as appealing for most mainstream buyers (I'm talking across the whole Subaru car lineup).

Yeah, especially the front lip. I played around with it more in PS and just decided to painted the side skirt and I think it looks pretty good; leaving the front lip black.

Leaving the whole lip kit just black makes it look incomplete... IMHO

The issue is that tS is fairly new and hasn't been on anything THAT exciting besides the STI. With the BRZ-craze, hopefully someone will jump on this very soon.

I'm pretty sure it first appeared in 2011.

Then just went on the Legacy sedan and wagon and Forester.

Yeah! @OrbitalEllipses has similar thoughts. I wonder if he was other example pics stored up? I have a hard time seeing it in my mind, but I think it would surely look better with leaving the front lip black.

Once all my aero comes in I'll be sure to take a lot of pics of how it'll look like on a black car!

Saying that you planned on paint-matching the aero isn't giving away anything. Lips are sealed on anything else, though. I was just hoping you've give an opinion of the photoshop.

White car looks better all black STI.

Seems a little poser-ish to buy the tS badges unless you plan on doing a full conversion.

I'm coming from an RSX, and it was pretty common for people to re-badge their Type-S as the JDM Type-R. It would cost several thousand to actually do a full swap, not even including the RHD conversion. This seems no different to me.

@DaJo,

Here this might help you out. I painted portions of it and left some black.

Nice photos as always, @NIKDENG Gorgeous car!

Khazzy 08-30-2013 03:10 PM

I was planning on the same thing with my SWP BRZ and the STi lip kit. Front would be black, side skirts would be paint matched with the lip on the bottom remaining black, same with the rear spats. Keeps it really clean, and you did it so well!

Stierzy34 08-30-2013 07:16 PM

@NIKDENG YES YES YES! that looks perfect!
