Which would you give up?

Hi everyone,

Like everyone here, I cant wait to get my hands on one. But realistically i need to get rid of a car to make room. So one has to go. I currently have a E46 m3, E30 318is and '79 911sc.

I bought the E46 M3 new and i cant see myself selling it. The E30 and 911sc are restored to be reliable DD's. Not show quality but nice. So of the two, which one would you get rid of?

Thanks

You Sir, have great taste in cars!

When it comes to your question. You are in the best position to answer it yourself.

If I would picture me having those cars I would guess I would get rid of the E30 318is.
GT86 is like the modern day E30 M3/318is

E46 M3 would have the power, straight six and the more of the premium feel.
GT86 would be a new and nice all-round light weight car with low maintenance costs compared to the other cars.
911 for the days when u want to drive an old classic.

318is

there will never be a replacement for a classic Porsche, and you have the upgrade/replacement for the Bimmer already,

Yup, i'm thinking the e30 is the one to let go. Ironically that's the one i became really attached to because of all the work I've done to it.

I would sell the E46; it's the least focused and involving of the group. I say that assuming the FR-S would become your new DD and that allows you to keep the classics clean. The E30 and 911 are definitive cars. The E46 IMO is too bloated and as a result I've never been a huge fan.

I agree.

Since he said that is the one he would not sell, I'd go with the E30 though. 911SCs are a blast to drive and cheap enough to maintain/fix.

I would both love and hate to be in your shoes right now, having such a stable and having to make such a tough decision.

I would agree, I'd get rid of the E46. If you've grown attached to it, then it would have to be the E30. Like everybody here, its just too hard to get rid of the 911SC.

E46. This would leave you with three defining sports cars, all of which have great balance and driver feedback. Don't sell the E30 if you fell in love getting it sorted.

I am in a similar position as the original poster. Wife says I need to sell one of my toys ('91 NSX, '95 Supra and '99 E36 M3) before buying a BRZ. I love all three, and may just keep them and pass on the BRZ for the time being.

As far as your choices, I'd definitely sell the E30 BMW. I had one of them new back in the day, and while it's a nice car, the E46 and the 911 are far superior cars in all respects.

Eh, the E46M is a pig. Unless you need to show real estate I'm not sure why you'd want one.

In your situation it's a lot harder though. The NSX is fun, the E36M3 is also fun. I'd dump the Supra personally :)

And out of all your cars I would dump the M3 because the BRZ would just be like it but better anyways. It makes no sense to me.

Why listen to your wife? If you can afford those 3 & 1 more & have room who says you can't keep it all unless there is some important circumstance that you have to get rid of one. Just because wife says so; I don't find that a good reason, imho.

ZDan 03-29-2012 09:17 AM

Sell the E46.
