Everyone else going, have fun!

I would not call what I plan to do in my BRZ "a spirited drive around the track". You can continue to go around the slow way, and I will continue to go around the fast way. :D

Sounds like somebody has never been to a track event in their life. This is not touring laps, but it's not a Formula Drift event either.

Just to be clear, oversteer while on track is much different than an intentional drift...

4 backers for this track day so far. Keep them coming, don't be shy. You guys bought sports cars to enjoy them to the fullest, right?

Pledged I hope this event happens.

Are we allowed to bring a passenger?

There's not much risk with a fully insured car and 60 cars total divided up in groups. I just purchased $30k of coverage for an upcoming 1 day event at AMP with another club for only $150 from Lockton Motorsports. All you need to enjoy some track time are good brake pads/fluid and tread in your tires.

Does this include breakdowns/part failure? (One of my main concerns is burning my brakes up and I really don't want to bring any more expenses my way till next year)

The insurance doesn't cover mechanical/part failure, but you will be fine with a completely stock car as long as you don't beat on your brakes. I know of a more than a few owners who have tracked their 86's bone stock and they'd likely agree that as long as you don't abuse the brakes you'll be fine. The stock brakes aren't useless, the pads/fluid just don't have a very high max operating temp. StopTech pads and high temp fluid are a cheap and easy solution to meet and exceed the demand for mild-mannered cool weather track duty in a novice run group.

Cool... I'll still have to give it some more thought. I can't say I've had a very "lucky" week this week so forgive me for being cautious!

Also, you have a beautiful BRZ!

Generally the groups I run with only allow instructors to bring passengers along.
