Rota Wheel Quality Questions
600-700$ for what looks to be a semi decent cast 1 piece wheels which if staying in the 17x8 range is a bit lighter than stock and should allow for slightly wider tires. 18x8's also look to be a great option with little price increases. I don't care for real wheels that cost an arm and a leg. I do not show off my car at shows etc... I want best bang for my buck because I drive my car. For people who have Rota Wheels on the FR-S/BRZ what was your thoughts on quality, looks, and driving impressions.
I have to say I love the look of the 17x8 Rota G-Force Hyper black! With some nice long blue color lugs would make an Argento car pop! Then get some 225/45 sized rubber(probably Michelins SSP's for traction, tread wear and a great tire. |
A lot of people have Rota wheels. As discussed before, track cars run these wheels too. Unless you don't do crazy stuff, these should be fine.
|
Pretty sure the are drift and track cars sponsored by and running rota. So Unless you are competing for 0.01 it is probably fine.
I think Rota best quality is you can buy a used set for CHEAP lol Personally I'll most likely stick with Enkei, may buy some Titans though I like them a lot |
Rota wheels are a great value. They conform to the same quality standards as OEM manufacturers. Little do people know, but Rota actually is the manufacturer for many OEM wheels.

Everyone says they break, this and that. I've seen te37's break. Doesn't matter how they are made, you nail a curb straight on you'll do damage to any rim.
My only complaint is, they have gotten more expensive in the past few years. I'm looking at the MXR's...but they're $1000 for the set. I paid that for my old axis wheels new mounted with tires. Also not much cheaper than my 5zigen f10rc were a piece either. In fact, actually saw a sale on those for less than the rotas :( |
I have Rota Grids on my car (fitted approx 6 months ago) and am completely satisfied with them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of broscience experts on the internet who love to boost their egos by bad mouthing various products. Very often, this is based purely on speculation, and no real knowledge. A lot of OEM alloy rims are cast.

For my daily driver/autocross BRZ the Rota Titans offered the best combination of value, weight and appearance. Here is a good article on Rota wheels I came across while researching them.

What wheel specs, looks perfect

I don't mind rotas, I've had a few sets on various cars, never had a problem besides the center cap sticker falling off :-P I've tracked/drifted/DD'd on rotas, never had a failure, nor have I ever seen a failure in person.
Currently I have Rotas 18x9 on my frs, put 10k miles on them already, love em. |
