FR-S pick up/questions

I just picked up my 10 series and i was extremely happy until i found a few things up further inspection...

the passenger door has a bump/dent mark, looks like someone opened an adjacent door and bumped it and left some scuff marks and two dent marks which isnt noticeable unless you look on an angle

the side passenger mirror cover has a scuff mark also, looks like it rubbed against something, maybe pulling in and out of the showroom?

the driver seat also has a small slit, which looks like someone might have ripped or torn it trying to remove the plastic covering the seats

even though these seem like small and unnoticeable cosmetic blemishes and maybe a bit nitpicking but what do you guys think and what rights do i have with this car?

thanks in advance for reading the wall of text and appreciate any/all comments

I'm not even sure why you needed to make this thread? It's your car. Do what you want. I would take it right back and have them fix everything. Does that help?

AVodka14 08-25-2013 12:18 PM

You need to take it right back and point out everything. If I were you I would want them replacing it with another 10 series. That's your best bet as they may half-ass repair what is wrong with the current one.

The longer you wait getting back to the dealership the less likely they are to believe the damages were there before you took delivery. Get it back as soon as possible. They're responsible for all of it.

My dealer had me inspect the car and sign a pre purchase forum, hope you didn't or hopefully they won't pull some BS on you, I'd take it in no matter what :happy0180:

Enraged21 08-25-2013 01:29 PM

They'll deny they did any of it.

TRD-X 08-25-2013 01:47 PM

Yeah it's up to you to do a pre delivery inspection as most dealers won't fix a car after you drove it off their lot.

I am with TRD-X, that the reason sale person is walking with you around/inside the car to inspect it, sign it before you drive off the lot after all the paper works are completed.

i made this thread because this is the first time there has been damage on a new car i went to pick up and this is a limited edition model so its not as easy as to just replace it with another model...

i pointed out the damage on the door and mirror (which was noted) but didnt get a walkthrough, inspection of the car before i drove it off the lot... i didnt notice the small slit on the seat until this morning... i am going monday and they said they will repair or fix the car door and mirror at no cost to me

I just picked up my 10 series about 3 weeks ago. I am so un happy with the delivery of my vehicle from the day I picked it up. I noticed the adhesive marks from the packing tape. When they brought the car off the truck they did a half ass cleaning job, left rubber bands around the headrests, left over plastic covering by the rear seats also left the plastic covering over the pedals. I refused to sign the checklist until I made the salesman aware of these issues. He tried to bring a rag out and resolve but I insisted it is ok as I was going to return in one week for the paint and fabric protection, I just told him they better clean the car well before applying the P&F. I returned a week later and made the service writer aware of all the adhesive lines still left behind as well as water spots, plastic left behind etc. she assured me they will fully detail the vehicle, including clay bar, wax polish and then apply the paint sealant. I returned at the end of the day and needless to say I was not happy, the adhesive lines were still there and now there was visable clear coat scratches in the roof of the vehicle. I had the salesman and the service manager both inspecting the car with me and they both agreed it was not cleaned properly and I was pist that they applied the paint sealant onto the vehicle without getting rid of the adhesive lines (which tells me they didnt properly clay bar). so they assured me they would correct it. I returned 4 days later. they had their "lead" detail guy go over the vehicle with me prior to leaving and he saw the marks and said he would take car of it. keeping a long story short, at the end of the day the car was alot better than it had been previously but at final inspection there were still blemishes in the paint so I took matters into my own hands at that point and grabbed my rag and wax and started correcting the issues. I took the survey for the dealership and expressed my dissatisfaction, I was contacted by the manager. I asked to be refunded the $600+ that I paided for the paint and fabric protection because I believe they did not apply it correctly. The manager refused to give me that request, he explained that he doesnt feel he should eat the entire price I paid, because they had put time and effort into the car. The manager then offered me another full detail on the vehicle valued at 149-200. I refused that because I do not trust them to work on the car anymore. I could have saved the money and applied the paint protection better than they could twice now. so the managers last offer to me a check for $200. The dealership I bought the came from seemed to not car at all of the scion 10 series "special edition". I am really not an anal person, but I expect a brand new vehicle to be 100% off the lot, and especially if they are condsidering this to be a limited edition car with limited edition paint. and I had placed my order fot the car on July 8 but didn't get it until July 26 :iono:

i can understand your dissatisfaction, i saw the plastic marks on my paint even after they detailed it, however i washed and waxed it myself knowing i'd do better than any dealership detailer, if your really angry call Toyota and complain they're usually on top of things..enjoy your new frs

That's why it matters where you buy it from. My sales person took care of everything down to not having them place a sticker on it. He was their at midnight when my car arrived and made by 9am everything was perfect. But then again he was a great guy who values return business and I've already gave him one sale after mine. You take care of me I will recommend you to all.

im glad im not the only person to deal with a similar situation and im glad they offered all those options for you... i will check back after i go back for service because i was promised they would fix those problems for me.

I work for a Toyota dealer in Socal. The dealer is obligated to repair these issues. New cars are to be delivered brand new, clean, undamaged, and have a full tank of gas. If they do not fix the problem, contact Toyota directly. VDQ (vehicle delivery quality) is super important to both dealerships and Toyota Corp.
