Exhaust Tip Question with video..
I have an bolt on Ichibahn exhaust tip that I bought ~8 years ago but never used. I am thinking of using it to replace the stock tip on my BRZ, but I have a few concerns:
It has a metal ring inside it with holes (see video)....what is that for?? Will it increase back pressure and harm the engine?? Do these bolt on tips ever fly off during driving?? How secure are they??? [ame="http://youtu.be/Z9UytoeMclI"]http://youtu.be/Z9UytoeMclI[/ame] Thanks! |
Looks like a resonated tip. It's a mini-muffler inside the tip. You should be able to take it out. I would, I think it's ugly. But yes, bolt on tips are fine. That's how the stock tips are attached. Crank it on real tight, you'll be fine.

Thanks...took a hammer to it and got those black discs out, with some effort.

tried to put them on and one side the clamp screw was stripped so the tip could not be secured. What a waste of time!
The old tips are back on.(I like their OEM's simple way to secure it, one bolt on the bottom). Anyone have a suggestion on good after market tips that secure well without welding?? |
