Seperation of Australian and New Zealand regional forum

As title states, I think there would be great benefit to New Zealand based members if we had our own forum.

Australia and New Zealand are different countries, seperately by thousands of miles of water. While we share many quirks, almost all topics posted in a regional forum have no common audience. They're either directed for one country or another. For sale threads are also this way, it costs more to ship/receive items between the two countries than from Japan / US.

What has happened because of this, is the Aus/NZ regional forum has just become a Aus forum. All NZ owners instead just use our NZ owners fb page. This is tedious, which important info being lost in the fluff, as is often the case with fb pages.

A separated NZ forum would mean more NZ owners would have an avenue to discuss regional issues, other than our fb page.
I don't believe we would need a seperate classified page as is currently set in the Combined forum. I don't believe NZ owners are buy/selling enough items o warrant another seperation. Rather these threads could just be included in the main NZ forum.

If its an issue of moderation, I'm happy to put my hand up I required. I'm sure others would as well, if required.

Thanks.

Agreed. We were thinking of creating our own forum but keeping it on this community would be much better.

The thousands of kms between our countries does make the Aust/NZ forum redundant to us. It's a little like combining the USA and Canada forums if Canada were across an ocean!

Aust - 22m people, NZ - 4m people
USA - 314m people, Canada 34m people

Please @Hachiroku

Important point there is the massive population of NZ which is almost DOUBLE of the Greater Vancouver Regional District which is the third largest metropolitan area in a country with only ~10% of the population of the USA.

And our country which you can drive across in the short distance of roughly 7000+ km and has two distinctly different languages as well as a population of more than Aus and NZ combined has a single forum.

Oh, look. So does all of the entire continent of Europe

Heh...

Yup I support this too. The NZ FB page now has over 80 members many of which have bypassed ft86club, would be great to link them back into here.

How about if NZ beats Oracle in the America's Cup you guys get a sub-forum?

(Work with an ex-Kiwi, and my mom went to highschool there. You guys are ok.)

If NZ beats Oracle? Please... you may as well give us the sub forum now. :P

(Should be good racing whoever wins :) )

You are forgetting about Oracle's secret weapons: cheating and lawyers.

But yeah my coworker has introduced me to that dominance. And Toyota sponsored, too!

Of course Toyota sponsored. They'll have a lot of money to throw around, with our 86's starting at $42k and going all the way upto $65k for the TRD.

Bump.

Any progress/discussion/comment on this issue?

Thanks.

Well the cheating was done but appears their lawyers weren't good enough.

Great that we planted some kiwi sailors in Oracle to cheat and get caught. The plan came together well.
