Touch-up paint question
I got a small scratch from a rock on the rear fender of my car, so I went to the dealership and got the Raven D4s touch up paint. However, opening the paint pen thing up (to where the brush is) shows that the liquid is clear. I have shaken it up, but it seems as though its just clearcoat. Is there something else I am missing, that I need to do, or did I just end up with clearcoat somehow? The P/N on the bottle is: 0025800D4S21
Thanks. |
I've used touch up paint a number of times over the years and never saw any that wasn't the color I was wanting. You might double check where you bought it that there wasn't a breakdown in the manufacturing process.
If you end up with the right paint, don't use the brush that comes in the bottle. Use a tooth pick to get the paint 'inside' the scratch and not on the surface of any good paint. Let it dry well and repeat until the valley is filled and then after it has dried well, use a polish to buff it out and you will be the only person that knows it's there. |
Toyota parts professional here. You need the base coat part number: 00258-D4SBC-21. Your parts department only sold you the topcoat which goes over the base coat. Hope this helps!

Figures... I'll have to head back there and get the basecoat. Thanks!
