I've been waiting for the 2014 model to come out. This will be my first car purchase. If the limited AT is $29,490, what should I expect or what would be a reasonable final / OTD price for one? I'm emailing local San Diego dealership for their best quote before I place a order with them. Any help would be nice!

I will be purchasing a 2014 BRZ as well and in regards to answer your question on the final pricing of an A/T, the price should be around $30k- no more. I'll be getting an A/T as well, considering that the A/T in the BRZ is fantastic! This'll be my first car as well!

Not sure how Cali works, but here in Ga you have tax, tag, and title fees. Then you add in the dealer and shipping fee, as well as any options you might want. At 29k, I wouldn't be surprised if you end up spending 31k or more.

I guess the premium AT will become "rare" now since it's no longer offered. Not that I'll ever sell my premium AT!

The AT is indeed fantastic! I've had mine since the end of January and have no regrets about not choosing the MT. The gas mileage is better, and if I want to be lazy, I can just put it in drive and let it shift on its own.

I've been using the floor shifter in manual mode for a majority of my drives. It's fun acting like a racing driver with a sequential gearbox! (though backwards order from an actual sequential gearbox since upshift is forward and downshift is backward on the AT)

That alone would drive me nuts had I chosen the AT!

DCTs are getting me curious and my knees are bad enough that they'd welcome it but… gawd I love MT!!! I learned to drive on an MT when I was 12-13 and been driving MTs for the majority of my driving life… :)

The AT in the twins isn't a dual clutch gearbox. But the engineers made it seem like it is!

I'm glad I waited (had to due to financial reasons) for the '14 model. I already pre-ordered the DMG BRZ a week back, hopefully it'll arrive on the date promised, of December of this year. Oh and I will be getting an A/T because of the setting that I'll mostly be driving in, which is mostly going to be city. I'm also a college student so funding for gas and the bills would be a pain too if I had a M/T.

I think it will take a long time to make up the additional cost of the transmission in fuel savings

Is there any real fuel savings? I could see if you did 90% highway, where the TC's in lockup, you'd do better since the top gear is so much higher. Around town, the manual should kill the auto.

I'm getting ~33 combined, biased probably 65/35 highway/city. Are A6s doing better than that?

This is what Subaru of Gwinnett quoted me for the 2014 limited manual

$28,390 msrp
$499 dealer fee
6.5% tax ($1,900)
$43 title

Admiral Ballsy 08-30-2013 12:16 PM

What is a "dealer fee"?

Probably a rhetorical question...

How is everybody preordering them in the states? Sorry I never bought a car before, been saving up and almost ready to drop a down payment.

Same dealer I am using lol. I went for a 2014 and they had a 2013 with the same options I wanted coming in at the end of September. They said they would take 1k off the listing price.

$27,000
$499 dealer
$1,800 tax 6.5
$43 Tag, title, lemon law
