Im pretty sure its not even a 3 stage pearl. |
I get that it's only $200, but for me it's more of a principal thing. I doubt Subaru will do this for the BRZ since they don't on any of their other cars. If they do, it'll only be to follow suit, and I'll blame Toyota for it.
Is it costing Subaru more for whiteout/SWP? If so, why hasn't Subaru passed that extra cost onto their customers before? Just seems a little nickel and dime to me. |

About the nickel and diming comment; it does cost extra as the extra paint stage consumes more materials/tooling. Perhaps Subaru does a cost averaging adjustment spreading the extra cost across the entire production so non-SWP buyers absorb some of that cost and SWP buyers get more for their money as everyone pays the same. If true, then Toyota's charging people only where its due seems more ethical. How much more is reasonable? You can't stop arbitrary markup but remember Subaru incorporates markup too.
My mom paid $220 extra for her 2010 Blizzard Pearl White Prius. It does bring out the hard edges and soft curves and stands out among non-BPW. Our whole family favored her choice. I was skimming through priuschat and someone got their BPW at a $179 "factory rate." Whatever that means. Potential FR-S haggling point (like for accessories)? And will Subaru even mark-up their SWP BRZs or stick to their colorblind pricing policy? |
