A real live negative review!

Der Spiegel (a pre-eminent German newsmag) has a negative review up. They hammered it on its low power and critiqued a few other things. Their conclusion:
Quote:

The car is a bit like alcohol-free beer: Looks like beer, tastes somehow like beer - but makes no noise.

Kinda the same words I would use to describe Der Speigel as an automotive source, LOL.

Let them handle political melodrama and global conspiracy. I didn't even know they han an auto section.

As sporty looking coupe from Japanese no longer a production of more. Glad you climb behind the expectation sport steering wheel and looks forward to a lively ride.
That's exactly what I was thinking!

It was hard reading that terrible English translation. My head hurts now.

^ It kind of amazes me that Google translations have not really improved over the years - guess they aren't putting any resources into it.

you expect a web dictionary to translate prose? Hell, most bilingual (+) people have trouble doing that on the fly.

Especially journalistic prose, which is jam packed with lavish lexicon usage and quirky sentence composition.

racerkyo 03-27-2012 11:43 AM

blah. the car was not made to be fast. it was made to be fun, gas efficent, and affordable

dsgerbc 03-27-2012 11:43 AM

Well, that quiets some conspirological thoughts in my head, or not every reviewer was paid off by Toyota/Subaru ;)
Another consipracy though - they need to protect boxster sales ;)

Google has some of the top computer scientists and AI experts in the world working for them. I'm sure if they threw resources at it they would be making some progress.

Vat? It only has two hundred horsepower?

Sorry. Well, that's one bad one out of like 30 good ones. I guess the "Goods" have it!

SUB-FT86 03-27-2012 11:53 AM

Every product will have a negative review. The difference is favorable reviews. So far this car has a 98% based on like 25 reviews. But you the buyer must be the best reviewer because it's your money.
