Subaru called me today

Here's an interesting one, I left them my details a while ago, they said they'd call with any info.

According to them, today is the only day I can pre-order the BRZ, they're only importing them based on the pre-order sales? it made no sense, also she mentioned that deposit would be $5k

I'll be calling another dealer tomorrow for a second opinion i think.

They did mention that the est drive away price was $45k.

I'm glad I don't live in Australia!

That drive away price is $5k better then what I've been told. Which dealer was this? Might give them a call tomorrow see what the deal is.

$5k deposit seems odd for a car that doesn't even have a release date. Most other places are asking $1k

Thanks for rubbing it in!

BTW I call BS on today being the only day you could pre-order. Probably some marketing tactic to try and get you to put down a 5k deposit.

hehehe sounds quite dodgy.

Can we leave the (incorrect) economic posts elsewhere? Please?

Anyway, I thought this sounded like total rubbish too, but, as I do sometimes (just to be underwhelmed), I fired up http://subaru.com.au/brz

This used to redirect to one of the news articles about the BRZ but no longer does. I have no idea why companies do these things early, you should be able to change a redirect like that at the time you publish content, but sometimes it's an indication that there's about to be an announcement...

So possible the dealers know and one was trying to get the drop on picking up some orders before it's announced. I remember when I had a moment of temporary insanity and was going to buy a HSV... One of the dealers in Victoria was advertising a really good runout special but I called a couple of dealers here and they laughed, said I was wrong etc... One of them called me back on Monday though and said the other dealer had got the info a couple days early and advertised it in the hope of picking up sales...

Lot's of if's and maybe's I know, but perhaps we aren't far away from actually hearing the specs, prices, and being able to order!

fingers crossed.
