Scraped The Underside Of My Front Bumper
I was exiting a gas station into traffic. I never thought for a second that the car might bottom out on the road, not even that much of an incline. Heard a Scraping sound and pulled over.
There is a 1.5 inch square scrape on the underside of my front bumper by the "fang" part that sticks out. You can't see it, its completely underneath. My question is, what should I do to prevent it from getting worse? Take it to the dealership to get it touched up? Plasti dip the underside of the front bumper? Just Leave it? Thanks for the help! |

I'd just leave it. Even if you get it touched up, you're bound to scrape it again.
Plastic dip won't be thick enough to protect the bumper. Your only option is to add an aftermarket front lip. The good thing is that the bumper is plastic, which means you won't have to worry about rust forming. |

I did this too not to long ago, was sad about it for a week then decided to throw on a lip lol.
To be honest, you can't see it, it won't rust so i'd just leave it. |
About a week or two ago I scraped coming out of my buddy's driveway. I hate those driveways that have the same curb as the side of the road...scraped the crap out of the front bumper. I don't really care, even though I'm not lowered scraping is just part of the game  I just have to be more careful next time and take it at a heavy angle.
Just throw a front lip on there or leave it. It won't get any worse than it is right now without scraping more. |

You learn to live with it. |
You should be fine, or just throw on a lip like everyone says. No point in touching up since its bound to happen again esp if you can't even see it.

Just an option here, but I've always had the idea to take the front bumper off and sand the entire underside. Rough it up really really well and then take it to a place that does trunk bed liners. Apply a healthy layer and it should protect the bumper pretty well.

Got the same thing hitting some debris in the road at night. Cover it up with some industrial rubber adhesive.
|
So sand all of the paint off, rough it up, and bed liner it. To protect it? You just destroyed it to make it look worse.

The good news is that only roadkill will see it--I wouldn't sweat it.
My wife (unbeknownst to me--until much later) rode it up on a curb the first night I got it. |
2013 people still care about small unnoticeable underbody scrapings?

wait, that just sounds wrong |
the underside of my front bumper is suppose to be blue (ultramarine). However its mostly black, grey, and as of this week yellow from a painted speedbump...
Long story short, who cares. |
My car is white, the bottom of my bumper is black.
|
Thanks guys. Care much less now.

Double check the underside to make sure the little plastic push-clips are all still in place. I scraped my front on a parking bump and it popped 3 of the little push tabs out.

Always take those kerbs at an angle and slowly, so it doesn't dive.
Touch wood! 8 months and it's still perfect under there. |
its almost impossible to avoid situations like that here in nyc/nj - all the curbs are retarded here...
