To the public, sub zero.

To a car guy? Hunk of shit.

Fett4Real 08-19-2013 03:34 PM

Have seen one with a Grand National turbo V6...among other swaps...

malave7567 08-19-2013 03:56 PM

Love. I see it as an awesome car to make your own with a unique build like the Grand National engine swap Fett mentioned. I have also seen one with an all electric drivetrain with some of the key components kept in view to make it look more like a science project (back to the future references help, lol). I work about a mile away from the DMC location in Houston and see a line-up of these cars parked in front every time I drive by!

I think it remains cool because of Back to the Future and cool collector's item. Not a great car however.

Joakim, the link to here from the main Cool Wall thread wasn't working for me.

This car is only cool to me, not sub-zero, since there are still quite a few around. Exclusivity would make this a sub-zero (or if it was the movie version).

Starscream15 08-20-2013 01:16 PM

Even a poorly implemented RR is awesomesauce.

OrangeJuleas 08-20-2013 01:41 PM

I'd say cool, because after 30 years, it will still draw looks and people will always want to check it out (semi-exclusive). It's not Sub-zero though - the engine is too anemic and would leave the driver wanting more.

2,758 lbs. and 200hp? People want more, but most can learn to live with it.

2,712 lbs. and 130hp V6 (I suppose TQ is acceptable at 153lb/ft)? Seriously? How does it move? I can understand weight distribution and all, but just give me an engine from a Honda Civic and it'll be faster (and it'll get better fuel economy). Keep in mind that in 2013 dollars, this car would cost about $31,000 (http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc....981&year2=2013).

Meh.. Betta cars have been madeduring that era.

TylerLieberman 08-20-2013 09:44 PM

Handbrake on the wrong side and girls only care about handbrake turns.

Seriously uncool

I don't personally like this car because it's ugly and slow, but it's got a stainless steel body and it's a cult favorite; that's worth a "cool" vote in my book.
