You guys are way over thinking this. The fact of the matter is, the statements were made that 3 years ago when they said the car will "sell for a little above $20,000" they weren't saying "If the car goes on sale this year, it will be $20,000, but if it goes on sale in 2012, simply factor inflation and other market variables".

That is just nonsense.

When a car is in concept form, they are PROJECTING a price for the era in which it will be sold. At the time this press release came out, they were not projecting the car to go on sale until At Least 2011, so saying that we have to factor inflation, etc.. is just foolish.

Anytime i've ever read about a car that is to be released 2 years from now, they project the 2 years from now price. Not a hypothetical price in the current market. Why would I care what the price of a car could be in 2012 if the car isn't being released until 2015? That's just dumb. I would only care about what WILL THE PRICE BE WHEN IT GOES ON SALE.

Making sense anyone?

 Well said. Overthinking is not just some people in this forum. The Toyota guys (and maybe some Subaru guys) did. They actually overengineered. As the result, they had to "add on" stories of 2000GT, Sports 800, etc, not just the ORIGINAL AE86 which was a cheap and "unsophisticated" fun. I was more hoping for a something more in line with that, but I am at least going to test drive one myself and decide if it is really worth my $25K+.

well....if the auto FR-S starts @ $26 where do you think the BRZ prem auto is gonna land???

dorkymork 03-28-2012 02:06 AM

Including tax and all that fun stuff, I'd be OK signing for $31k for the Limited.

devinclfalcons 03-28-2012 02:08 AM

I wonder whether the Limited will be 2k or 2.5k more than the premium... according to that survey it would be 2-2.5 more. Guess the Limited could come in around 28.5. The limited auto would be pushing 30k, WOW!

poormans_LFA 03-28-2012 02:32 AM

if in the year after next dealers won't budge on MSRP and these cars are still in tight supply an FR-S it will be. if a prem auto starts @ $27k that means it will be $30k OTD, and I'm NOT going to pay that for this car. I'd have to take off at least $3k off of that to comfortably make this happen. as it is I'm just not willing to make those kinds of payments even if my interest rate is good. I plan on putting at least $3k down.

SuqMadiq 03-28-2012 04:35 AM

With all things factored in, I would pay a maximum of $20k. Anymore and it just feels overpriced for what you get.

Weak engine, not very quick, crummy tires, minimal amount of material used, cheap looking interior, and well... nothing that is really unique other than it being in a class of its own. Which I don't justify paying more for.
