SPEED channel cancled.
The SPEED channel is no more. It now has become FOX Sports 1 which is basicly FOX's version of ESPN (covering everything) channel.
Understand why it was changed. I didn't watch it except for a few specific shows. Velocity takes most of my time now days... http://www.caranddriver.com/features...hannel-feature |
I had a feeling this was coming when they lost F1
|
Disappointing because now I can no longer watch Rolex or Continental Sports Car Challenge races. The big draw for Fox1 is UFC. Pffft! That is not a draw for me.

Bastages put todays Rolex race on FoxSports2, which I don't get, because I only paid extra for the package that had Speed (which became FoxSports1), not the one with Fuel (which became FoxSports2). I had Speed dang it, give me my Rolex race live, instead of this tape delay crap tomorrow.

IDGF, I stopped watching when it went from Speedvision to the all NASCAR all the time channel...

They are carrying all the MotoGP races so I'm happy about that.. I like NASCAR so that didn't bother me much, problem was.. NASCAR sold.. Nothing else really does.. At least as good as NASCAR, so I get the reasons it was the nascar channel.. With all the racing on the weekend, they have to air what sales.. I love bike racing, but what Motogp and world SBK wanted to charge to broadcast, I know why speed dropped wsbk.. Couple million for broadcast rights and only a couple thousand watch the races.. Return is not worth the investment, but when 5-7 million watch nascar weekly, that sells..

I haven't watched SPEED in over a year (since they dropped F1) because I don't care about shows like Pimp my Ride, Pinks and Unique Whips. Once FOX bought it years ago the quality of it's content only declined (just like anytime FOX buys a television station) so it's death was inevitable. I don't miss SPEED. I do, however, miss SpeedVision which was badass (pre-FOX). |
I used to watch the Speed Channel sometimes, but my cable provider took that channel away along with others and still pay the same rate.
Oh well... |
And without a whimper, my beloved SpeedVision is gone...
RIP & thank you for all the great car & racing TV. |
Hope another network/channel picks up the Grand-am series. I'm gonna miss that.
|
Check out NBC's sports channel - they have some sports car racing as well
