BRZ ordered - wanna pull it apart?

Hi, I'm new.

I've got one of 11 BRZ's coming to my state locked-in the very first month of production.
I wanted to toss a business idea out there...

Would everyone be interested in paying $10 each to sponsor video/pics/documentation of the new BRZ being disassembled?
... if I get enough takers I'll do it.

Imagine.. knowing every detail of this thing BEFORE the dealer lots get populated... BEFORE you buy it, plan upgrades way in advance.
Anyone?

You going to disassemble the whole car? lol Must have a lot of free time on your hands.

Rampage 03-26-2012 01:36 PM

Where are you at in Ohio? I wanna watch!

hyteck9 03-26-2012 01:57 PM

yes, I'm in Ohio.

Time is money as they say. I don't have "free" time which is why I'm looking for sponsors.

I'd like to see the car do well, and getting the online community educated on the vehicle bumper to bumper early on has got to be good for everyone, right?

Tell you what; I'll pay you once you have done it!

The aftermarket companies will have this pretty much torn apart in a few weeks/months. I wouldn't be too worried about it

just buy the dealer service manual? or download it once its readily available on the interwebz?

hyteck9 03-26-2012 02:28 PM

If I get enough initial interest on the forums i'd launch a kickstarter project. (individuals would commit their $10, but don't actually get charged until enough participants signup to make the thing worthwhile.)

I know the information will eventually be available and consumable, I'm just trying to fast track it.

$35 for 72 hour access. Bargain considering the price for a printed manual.

For real, generally these things start popping up as .PDF versions floating around in a few month and everyone and their brother can get it. I personally prefer to source them legit, but wouldnt pay more than ~$100 for a tech manual.

Way better info in these anyways. Tells you what tools you need and exact part numbers etc. No better source for info.

I was wondering if we could get printed manuals. I have full access to Honda manuals and printed ones as well, so not having access to a Subaru one sucks.

However, pics of a disassembled BRZ are worthless to me. I couldn't care less to see that. I only want torque specs and diagnostics.

I believe you can order them; I've seen them in person before.

That said, all of my .pdf manuals from 2002-2009 were obtained...extra-legally.

:) My access to Honda ones is 100% legal (sponsored race car) and my print ones I purchased. I fully support purchasing them as I like having the paper books in the garage so I don't need to deal with searching a PDF and crap. Honda's online system is nice since you can search for and find whatever you need, I'd imagine techinfo.subaru is like that as well, but I can't do that price. Unless I can get a login to use from an employee than a print manual is well worth the cost to me.

$10 to help someone pay for his BRZ to see them take it apart isn't.
