The 86 and BRZ are going to be MENTAL this year...

Some pretty hardcore enthusiasts in Japan. Differences over the standard 86 include: 2 possible roll cage configurations, a safe fuel tank (30L or 85L), front/rear tow hooks, cut off switch, and air-jacks for the $55,000 model. Does anybody who is Japanese literate care to translate anything I missed?

ichitaka05 03-25-2012 03:47 AM

Wow

switchlanez 03-25-2012 03:50 AM

I would think it includes most parts from the TRD catalog (suspension, exhaust, door stabilizers, etc.). :iono: Gotta dig deeper to get that info.

OrbitalEllipses 03-25-2012 03:57 AM

Air jacks...so cool.

Dark 03-25-2012 04:02 AM

Roller cage? They really go hard core.

switchlanez 03-25-2012 04:36 AM

The cheapest stripped-down version of the 86 and the most expensive 86 look almost EXACTLY the same haha

cyde01 03-25-2012 06:05 AM

Difference between the roll cages are bolt on type and welded on type O_o

Levi 03-25-2012 07:19 AM

I'd want such a version. But about 55.000 € ? By getting a 30.000 € streat car and modding it yourself it may end up being cheaper.

_hollywood 03-25-2012 07:23 AM

Omg this is so sick....seriously, factory race prepped 86's :burnrubber:

Cant wait until these parts trickle over to the states....

Air jacks....mmmmmm

Sully 03-25-2012 12:31 PM

55k? Get a caterham or atom, lol.

Corey 03-25-2012 12:43 PM

They are made specifically for certain race series, the lesser expensive for the Fuji Champion sprint races and the other for Super Endurance Series. They are base cars sold specifically for motorsports and are NOT road legal.

Sully 03-25-2012 01:05 PM

Oh well never mind then. I was thinking it was marketed as a track toy or something.

Though air jacks are a bit much for a track toy!

blur 03-25-2012 01:33 PM

"Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the SPEC 86 racing class at tsukuba..."

Can't wait for Hot Version to be on this like white on rice.

Matador 03-25-2012 01:46 PM

unless you own a raceshop, a track-ready (ie, built to full FIA regulation) car will cost you more money after all said and done.

LOL funny, but that 30k includes, full roll cage (for Super Taikyu Series), 85L safe gas tank, tow took, cut-off switch & Air jack. So 30k isn't just for just an air jack

Just get 4 people to lift up a corner each :)

I was thinking the market for these was a track toy, not a specific series-which is obviously somewhat different.

They are built as a base for competition, not as a "track toy".

koyv90 03-26-2012 02:29 AM

i hope scion ports the roll cage only thing id be interested in.

Yes, it really depends on the races.

sbxjap 03-26-2012 01:25 PM

may seem hardcore for us.... but this is just used to make their daily tofu runs... :bonk:

neutron256 03-26-2012 02:05 PM

Air jacks would be so handy/cool. I wonder if they will be a possible bolt-on mod.

I can see myself forking over some cash for that.

air jack isn't simple bolt on mod.

SPCorBUST 03-26-2012 02:25 PM

must google these air jacks. seen some vids but i'd like to know more...

That would all depend on the car and the system. If Toyota designed it to be installed without major modifications it could be very simple. All there really is to it is four pneumatic rams and hoses/connecters/manifold to connect it all. There's nothing complex about it, but unless they car and system are designed for it mounting can be very complicated.

Turbowned 03-26-2012 02:46 PM

A good air jack system costs ~$3,000 to purchase and probably $2-3,000 to install properly. It's definitely for the hard-core racer. You don't do this unless you're running an endurance race or something where pit stop times count.

I think a B-Spec Mazda 2 is more in line with my budget, though

Yes, nothing complex about it, it's same concept as roll cage. Just simply strip everything & weld the parts, put everything back again.

IDK bout you, but that's not called simple "bolt-on" mod

chulooz 03-26-2012 03:04 PM

No way its bolt-on, but this might be an accessible option for quality aftermarket involvement since the application has already been provided via OEM.

Also, pricing wont convert right. True OEM race prepped gear is rarely cheap, yet quality.
Of course all of these mods could be done for much cheaper by third party.

SkullWorks 03-26-2012 03:14 PM

Air Jacks usually require a Roll cage to brace into the chassis.

The system is simple I have overhauled and built to print a couple cylinders, but getting the chassis to support it is really the hard part.

The parts would be cheaper if there wasn't such a liability associated with them.

The car from the factory like that is Mad Baller....Definitely going to get more people serious about using these for what they were intended, Here's to hoping the series Stay N/A so we can get super pimped out N/A headers and Exhausts off crashed race cars soon

Agree! :happy0180:

getting some of rare ones from Japan gonna be super rare

Sully 03-26-2012 03:29 PM

And hoping the engines are required to be relatively stock, too.

But even if they aren't, the race manifolds would look amazing, I'm sure.

merlin2111 03-26-2012 03:43 PM

I like that these are already being talked about. I am hoping that we will get a set of racing series over here. I would love to participate in the almost stock one lol.
