Damn, just read this thread and I can pretty much guaranty the tuners involved will not reply to this thread for the sake of limiting their economic exposure. . . .

This sounds like a good ole 1800's witch-hunt or in this case a Visconti-hunt.

you're speaking as if you have no knowledge of the fact that the car had installed a fueling kit that is known to leak high pressure fuel into the engine bay due to incorrectly sized fuel lines. you're right, people are making assumptions. or educated guesses as to the cause, but it's not like they're not well informed and reasoned, with one obvious logical conclusion.

I did, this thread reminded me of when my e36 caught on fire because the previous owner did some shoddy electrical work. When you do anything with electrical/fuel, you need to be VERY CAREFUL and only use quality/correct parts and safe install/work practices.

When your car catches fire, you either get a sense of humor or become angry and beat yourself up over it

For the record, for the average joe reading this thinking "ive gotta go out and get a fire extinguisher since im boosting my car and adding ###cc injectors" the small fire extinguishers you get at home depot are for the most part useless against a fire like this(not saying you shouldnt get one. anything is better then nothing). if you do go out and buy one dont think your superman safe. Only real way to begin to remotely "garuntee" your safety against this if it happens is, as stated early, one of them full engine bay extinguishers....but even they dont put out the fire completely 100% of the time.

Summary: dont think your SAFE just becuase you have a little 5lb extinguisher

visconti should've had the owner of every kit he's ever sold on the phone the next day. people need to ask if the ill-fitting lines were ever noticed before sending the kits out, and if so, why the hell did they go out? there are multiple people reporting problems, one car burnt up, and the guy offers to SELL you the correct part as corrective action? it's unbelievable.

i've always known the guy was an asshole to customers on the forum, that much is obvious. i never understood why people put up with it. it's a shame a dude's car had to burn down...

Just read this thread and this is the only post I've found worth while other then the OP.

Is there a source know yet? or is this thread just a prime example of forum bandwagoning. Im not trying to down play the severity of fuel leak but just like anything else we need to know a certain cause before getting out the pitch forks.

I have experienced 2 massive fuel leaks in my own cars (old beaters), luckily nothing happened but if I ever modify my fuel system I will install a fire extinguisher.

Everyone involved should have insurance but since there are 3 parties involved I'm sure every insurance company will try and pass it off to the next.

Serious question;

Leaks. Out of the 40ish kits sold, how many here have been documented to actually leak?

When I install aftermarket parts, if I see an ill fitting fuel line, I don't use it "just cause" it came in a kit. Out of the leakers, how many were installed, and "passed as good" by the installer?

Serious question, do you expect to pay $1400 for something to have to Mcguyver it in your garage because of improper materials were used in the design of it? Oh and after the company understand there is a leak issue, they offer a "fix" and charge the customer to fix it...

might be at least one that was "passed as good" by the guy himself and don. if someone can figure out the cause of the fire :lol:

Reminds me of this little Gem on facebook today.... someone posts it up as if it is in fact a fact, and bandwagon jumpers everywhere re post it or share it as gospel truth.

So I actually read a handful of the 34 studies. 8 now to be exact, and NOT ONE actually supported what was shared so often as "fact".
