Trade in car?

I just got my scion frs a few months ago. My dealership just got a manual 10 series in. 28,000. Would it be worth it to trade my car in for it. I've only made a few payments on my car now. I put 0 down. Dumb thread I'm sure but I don't know much about the car loaning process or whatever

Well, obviously they're not going to let you just trade them without throwing in some cash as well. So how much are the differences worth to you? I mean that literally. What is the dollar amount it's worth?

Figure that out, then go talk to them. If the difference they want is greater than the number you came up with, no it is not worth it. But if it's less than or equal to the number you came up, yes, it's worth it.

Did you get an automatic?

No, don't trade. Your dealer will rip you a new hole with their offers. You will be underwater (negative equity) and in the end you'll pay $40k for a FRS.

Yea I have an automatic now

You're gonna end up rolling the better part of $7,000 into the new note, after the bending over you take on the trade-in value plus the taxes/reg/etc fees that you paid the first go around.

That will make the Series 10 the equivalent of $35,000. Plus all new taxes and fees. You'll likely pay the better part of $37,000 for that car.

DON'T DO IT

Well maybe a manual tranny is worth $7,000 to him? Haha I hope not...

Moral of the story: never spend tens of thousands of dollars on something you're not totally happy with.

i feel ya, i started a thread my self...

Don't get me wrong I love my car now. I just happened to see they had it for sale and was like damn. I consider this a late night rant

It wouldn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't expect it to make much financial sense.

i almost traded my auto for a manual series 10, and with all the mods i have on it. Tey offered me only 20k for my car. I suggest if you really want one bad, sell privately then get it.

The dealership cares exactly none for what you've done to your car. In fact, it may hurt your trade in value.

If possible, always go back to stock before you trade in.

Just realize, depreciation aside, anytime you trade cars the money you paid on TTL is gone. Don't know your tax rate but mine came out to ~2,500. I don't make enough to throw away that kind of money. Unless you REALLY regret your purchase just stick with it. The grass is always greener.

if you have $$ to burn? money is not issue?, then do it. lol

I thought if you traded in a car when you buy a new car, you only pay the tax difference? Either way, changing your mind after you already purchase a car is always a poor financial decision.
