Bottom Seatbelt Holder
1 Attachment(s)
I've had the car for 2 months but I just found this out. Maybe there are others out there who have overlooked this as well, so I thought I'd post.
Basically the handle on the side of the seat has a groove cut out for the seatbelt. |
hmm i didnt know that...
I thought it was held by the shoulder strap only. so this makes it easier to reach? |

If anything, it looks cleaner! |
Dude, that's not for the seatbelt. That's to adjust the angle of the seat. It could break off in an impact or possibly prevent the seatbelt from working the right way if you get hit or hit something.

LOL! good thing when i tried it, it looked stressed and i took it off it doesnt feel like there is any groove there i think the OP knows its the seat adustment, he just thought it had a groove for the belt too |
Look in the first picture, there's clearly a groove at the bottom of the handle.
|
Go lift of your handle and look for yourself. Tell me there's not an obvious groove at the bottom of the handle.
|
then how come the passenger side doesn't have it?
|
If the handle was meant to act as a seat belt holder, it would have come like that from the get go.
|
My FR-S was built in August 2012 and the left handle is exactly like the right handle only it's a mirror image = no groove. Because of the clearance required for it to work up and down there is enough of a gap between it and the seat bottom that a seat belt could be put in there but if the belt were in there, time and use would cause chaffing to the belt.

Here's better pics of the groove. Maybe the manufacturer just wanted grooves in the spot for some other reason. Seems right in line with the seat belt, but who knows what it's really for.

But anyways, not like I'm forcing anyone to use it. Just basically saying that there's a groove on the handle and your seat belt seems to slide right into there. If you don't have any grooves then you're not missing out on anything, right? |
just because the handle has a groove doesn't mean it's for seat belt... if you put it there the movement of the seat belt would cause the handle to move.

I have seen other pictures with people having the seat belt in those grooves, but I'm sure they assumed wrong just me. Check out this guy. He's got it in the groove but not in the shoulder clip. Madness!!!! http://www.edmunds.com/subaru/brz/20...the-seats.html |
