86Fest FAIL

I'm sorry but can someone please explain to me why people paid $50.00 (me included) to register our cars for the show so we can be parked next to the people who paid $10.00? On top of that, it took 2 hours to bring us in to the parking area and not one person who was scanning the tickets (which didn't work btw) knew about the different tiers of tickets. Pretty BS to me, never again will I attend 86Fest.

There were lots of problems. Getting in was such a mess. No organization multiple times over. Once we were in they were letting anybody in, which doesn't mean I got screwed but means they got hooked up and was more unorganized. The speakers were only in one area and lots of people couldn't hear any announcements. I missed all sorts of things being said and many people missed raffle opportunities. The ticket line for the raffle was a mess and they could have just had more than one line. One of the things that bothered me the most was the trophies were never explained and then I found out they were only for the vendors...why the hell did I pay to be in a car show if I'm not really part of the show? Oh well, lots could be improved but overall it was a good event. Next year they need to bring in shaded areas for people to hang out in. They also need beer. Beer fixes everything.

True on the beer and shade! :D Well I can't complain I got hooked up with the parking spot. The guides just guided us towards that area, no questions ask. IMO it could have gone either way, I know people are always going to bitch when they dont get their way. Including me. So it is what it is. :iono:

Which is why I didn't make the trek from Vegas to there.. I can't stand unorganized chaos.. I'd like to know how the autoX went.. I heard last year for the close to 100$ someone got 3 runs.. Because of the line and unorganized fashion.. IDK, looking at the pictures, it seems it was a good showing, but being at some of the SoCal shows, I've seen most of the cars already.. The parking and the rest I heard was a joke, I could've got the cheapest tickets and did what ever I wanted I've read and been told.. But chaos and unorginization just drives me crazy so I stay away from stuff like that.. I have heard most that went loved it

I can't speak for Sunday as I didn't drive but it seemed the same cars were going every 10 minutes or so. They had an event on Saturday too and at some points the line was only four cars deep.

If unorganized is not your thing you made a solid choice.

There were barely any signups for the AutoX, so anyone who ran all day diligently could have easily gotten 50+ runs.

I did two runs and put down a 20.7xx on Sunday; it was a really short course.

Dont get me wrong, I had a blast at 86fest, but the autox was a bit of a disappointment. I paid for the VIP package which was supposed to include a 86fest VIP swag bag. What I got was a handful of stickers and a shop towel, a $8 value, for a $25 premium...

On top of that the track was too short, last years course was avg 40secs, where as Sundays course was in the low 20's. For the same price of the VIP autoX I could of gotten a full track day at SoW with 20 minute run goups and 5-6 runs. I guess they made up for it by having open sessions all day though.

S'all good though, more then happy to support MotorMavens and the 86fest crew, all the vendors that make the FRS/BRZ/86 community what it is. Doesnt hurt that I won more that the cost of admission in raffle prizes

We can only hope with more experience that these events will get bigger and better in the future.

We attend a lot of events, and we have to give 86Fest some credit for how far they've come in only a couple years of bringing this community together. Events are tough work, and we agree there is a lot of improvement that is possible for future events that they will put on for this community. However, I think overall we all had fun spending time with other enthusiasts and seeing such a powerful group of modified cars & their owners come together. We are confident that every event will get bigger & better and look forward to being a part of every one.

I totally agree with this. No doubt the 86fest guys put a lot of hard work into throwing big events like this. I still had a blast seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. I guess i was more irritated by the staff of speedway and how unorganized they were plus the whole ticket situation. No disrespect to 86fest crew at all, it's just that the organization of the event was disappointing.

FR-Shadow 08-14-2013 02:23 AM

Between the staff not knowing answers to any of my questions and utter chaos i dont think ill be going again. Waste of time and money. plus everything was so expensive. After going to MOD mitsubishi owners day that makes this look like childs play. MOD was organized. Had designated parking spots for specific models. Free lunch...goodie bags (with more than a couple pieces of paper)...free tours of the plant. Free raffles. Lets just say 86fest should learn how to get donations but not try to make money off of the enthusiats. Thats what vendors are for. Vendors pay for the spot. You attract the crowd and vendors make money off of us. All one big happy circle. Between the person on the mic saying yo every other word and the stupid models who only tried to make sexual references i really felt like i lost brain cells.

But yes im one who paid 50 bucks and was directed to the back of the spots even though i came at 9 am as instructed when other 86 arizona members payed general admission. Came at 11 and was able to park closer to the front near the stage. I kinda want my money back honestly.

F@ck the car show, tracking is more fun!!!

20valvewynn83 08-14-2013 09:58 PM

Yes this event was a total disappointment. Most of the crowd didn't even venture to the end of the car show and if you did the sound was nonexistent. As for the car show goes their wasn't one and for everyone to gave paid $50 for parking should be pist. Not only should they be pist they should get their money back. Also I had a friend who paid for the show and they told him he can't enter anymore WTF people were going in and out the whole day and they wouldnt let him. Isn't a car show suppose to have judges? Isn't a car show suppose to have identification numbers ? Isn't a car show suppose to let you display your car? This was a joke it was a parking lot. It would be one thing if they sold VIP parking for $20 and had a real car show for $50. Entry should have provided shirts or something. Waist of my money.Best part of the show was looking at the clean AE86's which got front row parking.

Lonewolf 08-15-2013 12:08 AM

Sounds like somebody pocketed the 50 bucks for the "show"...I would find out who...:threadjacked:
