I have joined the FI fray--P&L kit/FA20 tune

I've kept this under wraps for abt 2 mos, but it's time to go public now that the kit is on & tuned. I couldn't be more impressed w/ Paul & crew's kit--it truly feels OEM to me when driving it & the quality is fantastic!

Toni has been very helpful in getting me tuned & on the road w/ a well-tuned setup.

This car is truly awesome now...

Pump & e85 @ ~8.5lbs--conservative tune for my HPDE work. Kill setting @ 13-14 lbs coming soon...

Precision 5855 is what's included w/ the P&L kit. The quality & fitment was excellent. We literally had it installed in 5 1/2 hrs.

I'm very pleased @ the tractability of the powerband, the power starts to build in the mid 3k range & is pretty linear--it just feels like a bigger motor. I was worried that it may have been somewhat peaky w/ that turbo--just not so...
But it pulls like mad in the upper RPM band--love it!
And when driving @ 70+ on the highway, the car leaps forward w/ mild tip-in.

This chassis really feels like a turbo was the missing ingredient, IMHO...

Bout time you posted up the results. Interesting that your torque peak is at 7000 RPM.

As Chuck Mangione stated: Feels So Good! lol

The powerband is so sweet--uber pleased!

And, thx, Chris--you were always helpful in my FI quest when I pestered you w/ texts & PM questions lol

I'm so torn on front mounted turbo setups... Err..

NobuSeven 08-13-2013 10:23 AM

Looks good!

Question...is the intercooler just sitting on the plastic under tray & being held in place by the intercooler pipes? or is there some sort of mounting bracket?

GTB/ZR-1 08-13-2013 10:59 AM

It does have brackets, but it also rests on the tray as well. Very sturdy...

Thx, Andy--sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you...

Well, figures I'd debut the car @ the tightest course all year, where I couldn't use the power other than the beginning of the course, so...

It was actually my 1st loss of the year w/ the club. I got beat by a 2000# SC Miata. I was leading in the AM session, but they changed their tires to Hankooks (which love the heat & I got smoked--haha) in the afternoon by .3 sec--oh well; there's next month, where the course will be very HP friendly (ask me how I know lol).

GTB/ZR-1 08-13-2013 10:00 PM

My co-driver got giddy & left the throttle on the wood too long for the tight course--putting it in a nice spin lol
