Nobuteru Taniguchi reviews 86

Its probably been posted before, but no one could understand what he was saying because its in Japanese.

Turn on translate captions (cc button), to English, and read up. I like his review because he actually says some certain things that aren't perfect about this car, as scion wants us to believe.

The video is old, but you do realize that he said the things he said to help push the parts for HKS right? He's been HKS's spokes person for years. His job is to help HKS make money. So he says things that help push HKS parts. I'd instead focus on more objective reviews from 3rd parties that don't profit directly from sales of things FOR the car.

It's a cool video and all, it came out during TAS, but a car is only as perfect as you feel it is. So don't rely on someone else to set the perfection you want in your car. My AE86 was slow, had an open diff, and was rattle can black. It was perfect to me though. I loved driving it. Power didn't matter, looking "hot" didn't matter. It was all about the joy of driving the car. I'm hoping this car will be the same. I'll know when I drive mine off of the lot in a few months.

I find it quite interesting that he said the flywheel feels heavy. IIRC the flywheel on the 86 is already lighter compared to the one installed on STI's.

Is that right? I haven't heard it but maybe I just missed something.

Maybe a heavier flywheel is part of the "easy to drive" of the car.

yea, he says the fly wheel is on the heavy side @ 0:53 after he rev matches to down shift...
