Question for those who ONLY replaced door speakers

For those that just changed the door speakers and kept everything else completely factory including the head unit. How happy are you? Looking for feedback from audiophiles of how the sound dynamics changed with just new door speakers. I feel that tweaking the EQ from the head unit and changing out the doors could dramatically strengthen the system without breaking the bank for those of use who arent going OEM audio route.

Small disclaimer, I have come from cars having JL audio W7 and W3 in them, so I understand the best solution would be adding a sub and a complete new system and head unit. But please stick to the question!

HONESTLY IT SOUNDS ALOT BETTER THEN STOCK JUST CHANGING SPEAKERS. BUT I USED A CO- AXLE SPEAKERS MAINLY BECAUSE YOU CANT REALLY GET TO MUCH BASS WITHOUT A BOX SO I JUST CHANGED SPEAKERS TO JL 650CXI MAINLY FOR HIGHS AND SLIGHT MIDS AND JUST ADDED A SUB WITH A LINE OUT CONVERTER TO THE REAR SPEAKER WIRES

I installed some JL component speakers in my doors staying with the same size as oem and using the same wiring. I had them laying around unused so I figured why not try it. I really don't notice much of a difference at all.

I think the stock amp is still going to be an issue. Getting something more powerful and then powering the front and door speakers off that would probably be a bigger improvement than just swapping out the stock speakers. Although the stock speakers are nothing to rave about for any type of good bass response.

Those speakers are 4 ohms not 2. No problems with them running off the factory amp?

If you want improvement you're either going to have to get 2ohm speakers or upgrade the stock door speaker amp. If you put 4phm speakers in there you're going to lose significant volume.

Not sure what your budget is, but I just replaced my door speaker amp with a $150 alpine mini amp (KTP-455U) and i'm quite happy. Once i upgrade the speakers as well it's going to be even better.

Here's the thread for swapping out the stock amp using OEM wiring and no splicing:

when i put in the JL's on it was alot louder then stock because of tweeter but now i bought some cheaper 2 ohm infinity Reference 6032cf not 2 expensive but good quality 2 ohm speaker. sounds a little louder the the JL's, really clear aswell.

but i second forge. alpine replacement is a good idea.
