FI Exhaust Options

What are you guys (and gals) running or thinking about running?

2.5", 3", cat-back, header back, overpipe & test pipe :iono:

Too many options...just might run an open exhaust & kill the environment 1 shift at a time :burnrubber:

husker741 08-11-2013 12:42 PM

It depends, S/C or turbo?

ecko04 08-11-2013 01:09 PM

I'm throwing this out for everyone so options for both would be nice

Ross 08-11-2013 01:29 PM

3" all the way out if it is an option. Just my opinion.

MooKz 08-11-2013 01:35 PM

I'll be going with PTuning's modular 3 inch exhaust

lexusb3 08-11-2013 02:14 PM

3 inch str8 back !!

Frs300 08-11-2013 02:37 PM

i have fullblown 3in exhaust if it sounds like shit with my fa20club uel i will get something else.

ecko04 08-11-2013 02:40 PM

Mentioning brands would be nice...along with reviews and video clips would be great.

When we say 3" do we mean cat back, header back? What about overpipe and front pipe?

The more detail the better for prospective buyers.

Raven604 08-11-2013 03:06 PM

Well... A 3in cat back will do nothing if your front pipe and over pipe are still <2.5 in. So obviously a 3in hearer back....

MooKz 08-11-2013 06:14 PM

That Tomei looks right up my alley

Excuse my giddiness... I'm soon to be Boosted!

ecko04 08-11-2013 06:27 PM

3" vendors aside from PTUNING & FBM?

I haven't looked into FBM.

While PTUNING offers a 3" catback, I haven't seen PTUNING offer a 3" overpipe and test pipe...

I know FA20Club has a 3" test & overpipe. I don't know if they have the accompanying midpipe to complete a full header back 3".

Kiske 08-11-2013 06:50 PM

Perrin has a 3" cat back for $999

group buy for 859 shipped ;)

MooKz 08-11-2013 07:20 PM

the tomei 80 would work for those running the set up that PTuning has to offer though right? It appears to be a cat back

As promised. We will be releasing our optional 3" midpipe, 3" front pipe and 3" overpipe in a few weeks for those that already have our DS-325 Modular exhaust system and would like to upgrade to a 3" header-back exhaust system. In addition we will also be releasing the complete DS-330 3" header-back dual-muffler exhaust system.

If you already have our DS-325 modular exhaust and plan to run our PTUNING turbo system, you will only need to buy the optional 3" midpipe to complete your true 3" Turbo-back exhaust system.

Im sure we will see more over time, from what ive heard a 3inch overpipe is a very tight fit some are fixing it with sway bar spacers or engine mounts.

I've been running one since March :iono:

With that said, it is a TIGHT fit.

Someone from Perrin said there simply isn't enough room. Thanks for the info though.

ecko04 08-12-2013 01:09 PM

FA20Club also has a 3" overpipe and front pipe

Is it possible to buy the pieces seperately? For example would i be able to use your 3" mid pipe with another exhuast system or will it only work with your exhuast? Nobody seems to make a mid pipe and if im replacing every other section of the exhuast im replacing the mid pipe too.

xxscaxx 08-12-2013 01:22 PM

3" all the way back for a turbocharger is fine and dandy, but I would not dare run that on a supercharger. Turbos quiet down exhausts - superchargers do not.

Even now with the JDL UEL header I have, and ARK DT-S exhaust thats 2.5" its up there in noise. I had to remove my front pipe because that setup was too loud.

I'm trying to decide if I should run the header/front pipe and put the stock catback on, but i'm not sure yet.. lol.

If you're getting a 3" cat back that will include the midpipe. For a 3" header back you'd also need a 3" overpipe and front pipe.

It's 3" but it steps down to 2.5" to mate up with the factory header flange and all the downpipe and header that's on the market. You simply cannot connect a 2.5" flange to a 3" flange and expect the gasket to seal properly. The 2.5" section on our 3" overpipe is only a few inches in length and should not create any restrictions. The only way we can build a 3" overpipe that has a 3" flange on the header side is if we built the downpipe as well with a 3" flange on it.
