Your phone should have advanced Bluetooth setting to allow for message access. Mine works intermittently. (HTC One)

What does the sms notification do? Does it show the message on the radio screen or does it show who's texting you?

I've had multiple Android phones try and connect to the Bluetooth in the Limited headunit, and none of them can pull texts over. Even if I tell it to, nothing happens.

Don't text and drive. :)

That is the point. This feature will read your text to you and then you have the option of sending a pre-written text telling the sender you are driving and to call you.

Really?!?! No Radio buttons on the steering wheel but you want to be able to read your texts?

Actually the car reads your text to you and allows you to reply with a few preset sentences mostly informing the sender that you are driving.

Still seems like a distraction. :iono:

Edit: Not trying to be rude, just want everyone to be safe. People underestimate how much concentration is removed from the act of driving when doing things like talking on the phone, reading a text, or even just dialing a number.

Studies have proven that hands-free features do not solve the issue. Your focus is still removed from the road. Please be safe out there.

I can't say that I'm always good about this, but you're completely right. Even just reading (not even composing) a text can result in just enough inattention to cause a bad result. Just saw this documentary - worth a watch, makes me just wanna shove the phone in the trunk and not toy with it till I've reached my destination.

Drive safe.

LOL, WHEN, and WHEN the text read feature works on my car with my S3, I have to laugh at how STUPID this feature is in the name of being safe. You can do a quick reply which requires you looking at the headunit to choose one and then press send... WTF! When will Subaru or any other auto maker figure out that if they tap into the phone's built in features like voice to text that you could actually make a hands free text?! :bonk:
