Oil Capacity for track use
I know there has been a lot of discussion on oil brands and weights for track use, but I have yet to see a thread on oil capacity yet for track use.
Does anyone else here "overfill" the oil a bit for track use? For the past two years on all of my cars that I've taken on track, I'll usually overfill just a tad to help with any issues of oil starvation or not enough oil in the pan for the oil pump to pick up. With the BRZ, it calls for 5.8 qts, but i'll usually fill with 6.0 qts even, which puts it a hair over the fill line on the dipstick. I know the C5 Z06's even came with instructions to overfill by 1 quart for track use to help with this issue of oil starvation. If you are overfilling, how much extra are you putting in? |
I dump the full 6 bottles in mine. Ran it flat out at tsukuba for 20 minutes strait with zero issues. Weather was sunny in the 90s.

I havnt heard of any, but i only converse with a few local 86ers. Only common issue weve discussed is the bumper sag. 93 octane is at every station in japan, maybe that has something to do with it.

Just did a google search. Looks like a few people have issues. Maybe ill stop by a shop one of these days and see if theres any more info about this issue on this side of the world.
