Wheel Directory: Rota Grid 18x8.5 +44

I was going to wait a few months for wheels, but Wheeldude in Fremont, CA had too good of a price to pass up. Luckily I am local so I was able to visit the shop to see the color and finish for myself since this was definitely important to me. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5452/9...940b8bf1_z.jpg I spoke directly with Tommy Duong who is a member of their sales team. He was very helpful and patient. I had many questions to ask and concerns to put to rest. Being well versed in the details of wheel fitment, he addressed all of my inquiries. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7394/9...a6bd4959_z.jpg I even asked to cut open the boxes to inspect the finish and color. Tommy and one of the shop hands brought them out right away and allowed me to pull them out of the boxes to see the wheels in the light. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/9...7b4c4ce2_z.jpg I was delighted to see that the 8.5" width Rotas had a bit of a concave face which is something I certainly appreciate. As much as I am a function over form kind of guy, I'm glad Rota made these with some shape to the face. If I'm not mistaken, 8.5" TE37s simply have a flat face. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3678/9...e4261bc3_z.jpg Regardless, I was certain that this was the wheel set that I'd be buying. One swipe of the credit card later, the boxes were loaded up and I was on my way. It was nice to spend the rest of the day at work playing with the lugs and hub-centric rings. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3718/9...2d0c90cf_z.jpg Working with Wheeldude was simple and straightforward. I appreciate that they were able to give me an additional 10% discount for their July Sale that I just barely missed. The bronze looks great with the (now discontinued) Galaxy Blue Silica. TL;DR: Rota Grid Sport Bronze 18/8.5/e44 Weight: 21lbs Rice Rating: 4/10 Customer Service: 9/10 Vendor Responsiveness: 9/10 Pricing for Value: 10/10 I would buy from Wheeldude again and I would suggest others do so as well. I'm hoping to get these up and mounted in a few days with Hankook Ventus V12 (235/40/18) Party hard! EDIT: Wheels and tires mounted. The front offset is spot on. It will likely be more aggressive when I drop an inch around xmas time. I need to stop dumping cash into this thing for a bit. I'll try to get some shots in the sun. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3752/9...3e18c60c_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7285/9...8538f1a8_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7409/9...f235cce0_z.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2883/1...6e398566_c.jpg |

Start here: http://www.modified.com/tech/0205scc...#ixzz1iskzOt00 See where that takes you. Also, don't forget to research tires since making sure you stay on the road is more important than how good your wheels look. I'm sure you are going to have more questions even after reading the article above but you can find out so much with a search of the forums or just making sure you're reading over the different wheel threads as they come up. |

Update:
After Drop. On my lunch break. . She looks kinda slammed, but not really. . I always sit next to the window to watch my car. And im pretty sure that I am not the only one who does this. Now you might call us a silly bunch. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1383675479 Here is a pic that was taken by my iphone. I did not take many high quality pics cuz this car was not 100% done. lol. Now I got 18X8.5 +44 Rota wheels with 225/40 tires. And I am thinking to get 18X9.5 TE37 w/ 245/35. This body kit does need a drop and 18'' rims to make it looks good. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1386080684 Newest Update: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1387207511 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1387207511 . ----------------- Before Drop: Please see attachment. Hav already ordered KW V3, Cusco LCA, and Whiteline control bolts. 18X8.5 +44, 225/40R18 Square Actually those rims looks ALOT better than pic shows(Maybe because they are flat black and are too dark to be showed in pics). Going to drop my car later. May need 25mm spacers on the rear and 10mm-15mm on the front after drop. Wats ur opinions? ----------------- |
Car will look perfect with no spacers Up front on that drop you don't get much camber from a drop up front so it should stay pretty much flush. The rear could use probably 15 maybe 20mm spacer. Why not got staggered so could be flush all around?
I have 8.5/9.5 +45. Front looks flush, Rear pokes slightly I think it should look perfect front and rear once I get around to some mild drop springs. |
I just want to kick the rear out easier. So I run Square and just 225 tires rear, also thats why Im gonna run -2 camber front.
