Any experience with 10/10ths?
There's are two 10/10ths events coming up locally, and I was thinking about going to one. There's also a NASA event at the same track in a similar timeframe, for right around the same cost. Is one better than the other from an event management or track time standpoint? This will be my first time on a track of any kind, if that makes any difference. I'm sure my stock FR-S won't keep up with the Lamborghini, Porsche, or Lotus in their pictures, but I'm sure I'll still have fun.

10/10ths is an AWESOME organization to run with, and I couldn't recommend them more. I think you'd have fun at a NASA event too.
As for the car, have you done anything to it? I roasted my OEM brakes at Putnam in 3 laps. That having been said, I was pushing hard. I would still recommend some nicer pads and fluid before hitting the track. Also, OEM tires will be terrible out there. You'll be surprised which cars you end up passing. In novice class, it's all about driver and not the car. You might end up lapping a Ferrari 3 times in one session. Happens all the time. Likewise, you might be holding up a guy in '68 Mini with 40hp. If you have any questions at all about 10/10ths events, let me know! I go to them regularly as an instructor! |
The car is completely stock right now. I'm paying off a couple of other things before I start putting a serious effort into tuning it, with wheels and tires high on my to-do list. Thanks for the feedback, I'll get registered!

1st off if you are new to track driving DO IT...............................for sure......these cars are STUNNING on track......you can't appreciate them on the street at all......
Find a local group that offers instruction, as in an instructor who sits in your passenger seat and instructs.....you will learn SO MUCH....... I instruct in my FRS and LOVE IT....I give rides and also "supervise" the rookie group while driving among them once they are clear....its so much fun.....nothing like my race car.....but still fun... You will find on a road course "numbers" as in performance numbers don't count for much at all.......a good driver in an FRS (or sedan rental car) will pass a Ferrari like its not even there......driver skill is about 99% of the game....the car counts for very little.....its all about the nut behind the wheel :>) Example....my very 1st trackday years ago in my street Porsche 928 automatic (not an ideal track car) I ended up passing EVERYONE.... 2005 911 turbo S....carrera S, everything (it was a Porsche day).......and I am an average racer.... |
