Tomei headers + overpipe coming!

Seperated from the Tomei cat-back thread..

They released their cat-back exhausts last night, and in the pics also showed their headers and their over pipe.

They have similar header designs already for other boxer platforms, and this design is really similar. I've just been to the Tomei website and had a good look at the similar headers and boy they look good.

Are you sure the exhaust are "released"? I'm pretty sure that is in end of September. although I hope i'm wrong.

If you read the article they say front pipe will be released at the same time of the exhaust, in September.

Wish they were titanium! But they are still beautiful none the less

I've never come across titanium headers on any car. There must be a reason that they're not suitable.

Iirc it's heat, movement and vibration.

You sure man? the TRD griffon has titanium headers, unless it's a typo or a lie. I think the reason you don't see titanium header is that it's just so expensive, not many people will buy it, hence no point in developing one.

EXACTLY. Greddy made a titanium header for the AE86 a few years ago but it was super expensive

Let's just assume pipe length is similar along with R&D costs if catback is around $1k, header would be around $4k. And that's Tomei, imagine Amuse...

And, moreso than the cost, Greddy are not a top NA-specific brand/tuner; or a top brand. They outsource to China, like HKS etc.

I wouldn't pay top dollar for Greddy.

Tomei/Toda I would. And seeing they've never made a titanium header, is why I question titanium's use as a header.

In terms of is Amuse a N/A specific tuner I don't really know, but if you are talking about top tuner, top dollar Ti headers then it's gotta be Amuse. As to why so little Ti headers, I'm not experienced enough to give you the technical reason. But I do agree with you that there must be a significant reason why as to there are so little. As the members above and I said, an educated guess would be the development and production costs.

^ :coolpics:

To clarify, I wasn't insinuating that I didn't rate Amuse as a top brand, by not mentioning them in the same breath as Toda / Tomei. Amuse have amazing products.

I think super sprint discussed it in their development thread but i can't spot where right now. The titanium alloys aren't suited to the heat cycles a road car sees. They were discussing inconel as a better choice.
@Gardus@Supersprint can you confirm this?

I know. I just mentioned them because they actually have a Ti header and lots of pic to see. A search on google reveals that Ti header for cars are extremely rare, and seeing how the ones that are available are for Evo and S2000, and the custom by TRD. Leads me further to believe Ti headers are just so expensive and hard to make that only the most popular car will be considered and even then it's extremely rare case.
