Does anyone here have pictures of their car with the rear bumper removed? I just want to see where the bumper structure is because I was rear ended today in stop and go traffic and the damage is super SUPER minor.

The accident must have only been less than 3 km/hour, so I'm fairly certain that there isn't any real damage underneath.

I also know that if I get this fixed, it'll need a brand new bumper cover, which is $$, time, and annoyance.

The kid that hit me seems like a good guy, so I don't want to try and fleece him or anything, and I don't think that this need to go to insurance either....

What the heck caused a hole like that?

Ben_G 08-08-2013 06:38 PM

Front licence plate screw

Ask for $200 and leave it at that?

FRSHunter 08-08-2013 06:43 PM

I believe in order to fix that, the whole bumper needs to be replaced.

I hate how the ABS plastic portion of the bumper is one piece with the painted portion. Honestly, I would probably just get a real carbon fiber rear diffuser cover and cover up the ABS plastic including that hole - probably costs close to a new bumper painted.

pack it with putty, dry, sand flat and vinyl the whole bar with carbon?

(disclaimer: not at all capable at fixing external car problems. :D )

yeah, gona need a new rear bumper it looks like, if that was in the painted portion it would be a pretty easy fix. it would be realy hard to match that texture though. if you dont wana go to insurance, just get a price quote from a dealer for a whole bumper and charge him that. bummer your not in japan, bumpers go for about $100 dollars on yahoo auctions. i wouldnt worry about the frame underneath being damaged, not with that little exterior damage. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/w...co_PB_RE_2.jpg

maybe install reverse sensors?

If I was you I would have this part cover with a black carbon fiber vinyl to hide this hole.

You can put a silicone into the hole to fill it up before to wrap with the vinyl.

Find a diffuser cover you like and if its cheaper than a new bumper ask the guy to buy it for you?

I got rear ended in a drive through in my old car. The guy looked like he was on a date and my bumper was already messed up so I told him don't worry about it. He looked scared lol

You're a nice guy.... I've found new bumper cover replacements online for about $250, so i'm just gonna ask for that figure.... it was an honest mistake and hopefully he'll be better about covering the brakes in the future....
