Good deal for a premium?

I decided to lower my standards and grab one of the last premiums around the area. They are not budging at 29,7xx out the door. Damn thing has a 800 rear diffuser which is boosting the price. Does this sound like par for the course or can I do better in the area.(I know about the co>ca cartel)

sounds decent if they are doing MSRP or close to it. didn't do the math but it sounds close. The $800 diffuser was a sticking point for me too so I ended up passing on it and waiting for another one (ordered). I did end up adding another $900+ in options that I did want, so I ended paying about $30K out the door.

that's about as good as you'll get in the Bay Area I think. No one I know of is selling BRZs under MSRP around here except for unique and rare situations (i.e. you know someone at the dealership).

Thanks for the help PMok! Do you ever wish you would have gotten the limited?

yes, but I'm pretty happy with the Premium. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes I wish I had the keyless entry and the rear trunk release button and other stuff from the Limited. Climate control I could care less, I turn the knobs maybe twice a day and its fine. But I hated the OEM Subaru spoiler, I knew I would want a different spoiler so I went for the Prem. The other stuff is nice and my Lexus has those fancy features but in my mind the BRZ is a sports car so it doesn't need that stuff. I'm fine with turning my own key like a regular joe haha. For sure it's still more luxurious and feature-laden than my MR2 Spyder so I figure it was still a step up. It comes down to what you're used to, what you're driving now etc. If you had for instance a POS clapped out beater, then the Premium is a luxury car in comparison haha.

I sold my 12 s4 and got a 14 cx5 with all options. the premium really is a sports car and if I have to insert my key into a few holes so be it. But that's the whole draw of the sports aspect-it's simplistic, driver is required to do more and it's old schools. That's what I hated about the Audi- it was sterile and boring but fast as hell. i don't want to totally ignore driving the Mazda. If I want luxury ill just hop into that thing. Thanks for the input

If you'd like I can make an introduction between you and the salesman that helped me out at Albany Subaru. He was a real straight shooter and when I told him about my situation he worked with me on the price. If I recall, back in march is when Albany decided to work with MSRP and no markup. See if you can find a dealer that is close to what you want and then see if you can work them against each other. Its a delicate process but definitely worth a try. Another friend of mine bought his in Oregon for $500 over invoice so that's also worth a look. LMK if you want me to make an introduction.

Thanks cjymiller. I'm going to try my luck tomorrow. If it goes to hell ill definitely want that intro.

It's reasonable.

Kostamojen 08-09-2013 03:00 AM

What about a FRS instead?

einmymind 08-09-2013 03:11 AM

I got my Premium for less than 25 (before taxes) from Clint @ Heurberger in Colorado. You can fly there and drive back for less than shipping cost. Check him out.

A lot of people on here in CA buy from Clint at Heuberger Motors and end up saving a bundle.

I'm getting one for this price as well. Probably going to ship it though.

How much did you save after shipping ?
