Interesting, my subaru actually has rear calipers but the parking brake is a drum style located on the interior hub area of the rotor, its strange.

Thats crazy, I wonder what their intention behind it is, and if it will make to production. That would be something to look for at the geneva auto show. Any pictures of the other rear tire to see if its on that one too?

Those setups are pure win. The Z32s, Supras, IS and I think st205 celicas had em too.

They are a pain in the ass to change shoes on and they don't have a lot of bite when your Supra is running 315s.

Midship Runabout 02-24-2010 10:18 PM

maybe they are factory rice and they bigger calipers are just for looks, and the little guys are the real working brakes???? :bellyroll:

I lol'd.
Like... IRL.

They use it to lock the rear wheels to initiat the slide. Stunt drivers in movies have been doing it long before D1 or Formula D and professional drifters

NESW20 02-25-2010 12:21 AM

don't get too excited; it's a parking brake.

Haha, this was the first thought to cross my mind.

If this is some crazy magic Toyota e-brake lever that makes it easier to drift, I'm gonna be yanking this more than I will be pushing in the middle pedal. WOO!

ichitaka05 02-25-2010 03:01 AM

Hm... Sounds interesting, but I don't think it's gonna be like that in final ver (that's my guess). As for my guess on the second caliper, that's their 2nd option for putting the rear calipers. So instead of having the rear calipers on the back have it on the front.

For GT5 pic, don't forget, they just leave it as is & make the vid. If FT86c had a Hello Kitty Calipers, I'm pretty sure they'll keep that in the vid too.

And I would keep it in my car.
If this is an option, I would pay more for it.

NESW20 02-25-2010 08:15 AM

maybe you guys didn't hear me: it's a PARKING BRAKE caliper. they didn't want to go through the hassle of running parking brake cables, which are less flexible than hydraulic lines, so they used a hydraulic parking brake. end of story. :)

Indeed.. its pretty standard procedure for manufacturers to use a second rear 'spot' caliper for the parking brake.

If it were for drifting, why is it so small?
