Avoid ECU reset, and factory amp remote wire
So I'm doing the first step of my stereo install this weekend, and am wondering if there's any drawbacks to using the factory amps remote turn on wire to tap into for the amp turn on wire? Would be one less wire to run from the head unit.
Also, is there any way to avoid resetting the ECU when disconnecting the battery for electrical work? I'm getting a bit tired of having to let the ECU re-learn things and having the car be so sluggish.... I'm guessing there's not much that can be done to avoid this, but worth a shot anyway. Thanks! |
You can avoid the sluggish part after a reset by pushing the gas pedal to the floor and releasing it 4-5 times with the ignition on but not running.

What does this do?

Excellent, that dead zone in the gas pedal was driving me nuts! Will def. try this next time. Anyone know if using the factory amps remote wire for my new amp would be an issue? Can't see why it would be, but perhaps someone has done the same and can share their results?
