TRD rear bumper question

Hi...Im a newbie and Im planning to get the TRD kit. Ive been told that in order to install the TRD rear bumper one needs to cut out the OEM black rear bumper on the lower section to have a snug fit for the TRD replacement. Im not gonna change the existing muffler...just gonna be using the OEM single muffler. Is this true?

It's going to look ugly with the OEM mufflers.

If it's the full TRD bumper than it's simply a swap out

If it's the TRD exhaust cut outs, then yes you have to permanently cut part of black bumper assembly and attach them, and if you run anything other than a J2 Quad Tip or TRD Quad it's going to look VERY off....

The former is what one would call not subtle in any regards, and the latter is $1000.00+

I know I shall be getting a custom exhaust, as should you

you still need to cut your bumper for the trd rear bumper, it is just a add on kit, like the side skirts and front lip. i wouldnt go that route unless you are going to get a quad tip. there are some japanese companys that sell quad tips that are full cat backs at a similar price to the trd muffler only setup.

This is the one I saw and from the looks of it its the OEM single muffler paired with the TRD rear bumper right? Well looks fine to me.

i wouldn't call it terrible, but from a view strait from the back it definitely looks a little off. if you realy like the trd kit, get it and run it with the stock muffler. thats what i did, then i changed exhaust down the road. if you dont mind the look, then thats cool too. after awhile i couldn't stand the look and got a quad tip. in hind sight, i wish i would have kept the stock, but only because there is better options with dual tip mufflers.

Thanks for the inputs.

Don't be afraid to take your single tips to a shop and have them cut off the singles, and weld on a double tip exit. After all, that's all the quad tips are anyway.

Definitely go with quad tips if you're getting the TRD rear. It looks okay from angles but from the back straight on, there is a huge gap which looks hideous.

Has anyone bought the Version Select rear bumper (add on i think)...if so do you guys know how it attaches to the existing bumper?...I am also loving the quad tips and would love to get the version select applique but not sure how the hell it works??

I want to see how well the quad tip Tommy Kaira exhaust looks/fits with the TRD.

From 2013 :bonk:
What is your question? Perfect would be the TRD quads. Everyone's definition of perfect is different.

the one that is fitted closely with the lip, not too much gap from the opening.
So making use of the big hole.
