Red Tail Problems
Hey guys I got a noob question for ya. I'm not even sure if I posted it in the right place.
I just recently redded out my tail light using VHT Night Shades. Right after finishing they looked perfect. after I let the dry They became a lot duller. Then a week after installation I found that they got a little brighter (I guessing that they cured) But after looking at a few photos on the forum. IT seems that all other tails came out shinier and more translucent. All members stated that they buffed them out after their clear coat. I did clear coat my (thinking it was just for protection). My question is what do I need to do exactly to make them shinier and more translucent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Attack them with a rubbing compound, then a polishing compound. Follow with a cleaner wax.

Get them professionally cleared. Best and easiest way to to have them look factory

Heavier coats of clear will dry glossier, but you can still buff/polish them now and they'll be very clear/glossy.

This product is difficult or impossible to have it dry "glossy" using compounds will pull the tint off the Tail light and if you adD cleaner wax you will then make it difficult for someone to clear it down the road the wax will repel the clear and cause a mess take to body shop. They may charge up to a $100. Shoot for 50$ or 75$ i have tinted and cleared about ten pairs of Raśl lights headlights corner lights etc. Also been a painter for 8.years |
You need to get a clear coat, wet sand (2000 grit) then you get a compound and just polish them and they will be glossy again. Make sure your clear has UV protection.
